1. Stats are meaningless. Surely as a hawks fan who sat through years of our mida getting low numbers whilst winning flags, and getting high numbers when we sucked, you'd know this is the case

2. Disregarding my first point, your mids don't need high numbers when your forwards and backs and push, scrab, punch, bite etc without penalty
What are you talking about?

Mitchell, Hodge and Lewis consistently racked it up and dominated the midfield.

Credit to Geelong's development program for turning players that looked like absolute spuds initially, like Guthrie Jnr, Blicavs and Miers, into quality senior players.
They’ll be 5-0 next week with 8 more games at the cattery including more games against north and west coast (and us). Despite being lectured here every year how “the cliff is coming”, they continue to develop well.

Careful, the numpties will start questioning your loyalties if you keep that up.

It's obvious this is the case. This team shouldn't be anywhere near 4-0. Haven't played the real contenders as of yet though who will test their systems.
Yep - Adelaide, hawks, saints at home and next week dogs
Tonight was a good win and their early fixturing will see them in the top 8 again

They have a loaded forwardline which offsets the average midfield. Hawkins sets them up and they always have space .
For a team that 18 months ago won a flag , had 1 down year in 23 its a dream fixture to start your season.

It is laughable that the bottom sides from last season have all faced a prelim or GF side so far . Cats have not

I might be one of the numpties😃

Drop off will happen when Hawkins gives it away ( probably end of this season )
People underestimate his value in setting the structure/system up .

Lol. I bloody hate them but you have to respect them. They get a lot of advantages but they make the most of them.

They’ll throw everything at Harley Reid in a year or 2 (likely are already), develop some role players around him and probably be ok.

That said, they’ve had an easy run if you look at their draw. Dogs are probably the hardest opposition and they’re so flakey. Reckon they get beaten fairly comfortably by a Melbourne or Carlton.

Geelong were coming off a short break having played on Monday. That was telling in the fourth quarter and it is the only reason the Bulldogs got close. They are no match for Geelong who controlled the game from the outset. They play in bursts and are fast and clean in transition. Can other teams match that? Their set up around the ball with fast ball handling, strength and space for quick separation and fast movement into an open forward line is the best in the comp. Consider how other teams with a mark on the wing or forward of the wing have to wait and ponder what to do while the opposition floods the back line. Does not happen often with Geelong which is why they get so many easy goals. A telling stat is their tackles inside 50 is generally very low because they simply don't need to do it as often as other teams. Amd aside from a select few players, the entire team including forwards seems to have the aerobic capacity to run (at a speed) up and down the field for an entire match. Cameron personifies this. Geelong isn't going away any time soon.

It's amazing Geelong are still so strong when their midfield consistently struggle to get high numbers.

Such a well drilled side and well run club. They get the most out of players and develop them as well as any club. They take average players and turn them into very good role players. It’s little wonder players constantly choose them when looking to move.

The Bulldogs are the opposite. Talent everywhere and going nowhere under Bevo

Yeah totally agree.

They all play their role really well together. Their stars are mostly in the forward-line and defence.

They often get beaten in the midfield but doesn't bother them as they are so good defensively and with their transition.

Players like Dempsey, Miers etc who seem average on name/paper are very effective players.

Bevo showed how to somewhat neutralise the Stewart threat last night by really using West at all opportunities.
West got on the end of a lot of forward chains and made Stewart accountable.
West is no world beater but that was a very quiet game by Stewart's standards and at the game, you could hear the encouragement and banter from the Dogs players everytime West got a possession or forced Stewart away from his customary place inside 50.
