I’d back us now. Petracca and Lewis out seems about even
We’d thump them if we played them now. They are awful now.

Ever since the Freo game they’ve been playing bottom 4 footy.

Almost losing to North is a clear sign of that.

Just saw the replay of May being tackled. He was spun around 360 degrees plus. How is that not holding the ball? Have they forgotten that rule already?

Just saw it. What a disgraceful effort from both the umpire and May.

I shouldn't poke fun at the misfortune of others, but gee, the Port board is hilarious reading at the moment.
Harsh. They are frustrated and angry, they are unable to influence via voting as members (afl appoint 7 of 9 board members), the media (until now) has protected their coach even while attacking more successful coaches (bevo, Goodwin) and they feel invalidated and unheard

Have north really turned the corner?
They barely scraped over the line against West coast, jumped the pies and lost (every year there's a couple of boilover games), and made a game of it against the biggest underperformed team of the last decade

Why does the AFL still appoint board members for Port?
As you say, one big aspect of their complaints is they feel disenfranchised because of that.

Well, given their remarkable level of hubris during the preseason and the vocal level of "supporters" who don't turn up to the game or buy memberships and live in the golden past of SANFL dominance (which I get on a daily basis), then add a good dollop of South Australian chip-on-the-shoulder it may be harsh.

But enjoyable.

Genuinely confused by Port as a club.
Simultaneously don't know why they're as bad as they are, but also don't know why expectations on them are so high.

The port Sack Ken thread I think is a little tragic, but I don't see how the club manages its way through this level of internal scrutiny.

they manage due to what appears to be a complete lack of internal scrutiny, and a void of external scrutiny (see how much Whateley and Cornes will support Hinkley and rubbish the fans, while potting other coaches.

Goes back to the tarps days. They were massively in debt with few real assets. They're in a better financial position now due to the deal with Adelaide oval but they're probably only two bad seasons off being in trouble again.

People may not like them on field but Hawkins and Selwood are the two most generous people you will meet .
Selwood does a heap of community stuff that people never hear about .
Hawkins is just a good fella , deserves a medal for belting Rohan too

Yeah, went from a flog to a “good guy that plays for Geelong” when that came out.

I think it can be both.

They're clearly better than they were because the individual players are better, but with how poor Melbourne were last night and how undermanned Collingwood were I think they should have scraped at least one more win.

“Lacking a bit of polish” ?

i think they are close TBH… They need a couple more pieces on the chess board and they will be ok. Still a couple of years from being a finals contender i think.

Improved yes , turned the corner . No .

Dee's were horrible and everyone bar the bottom 3 beat them last night. Most likely comfortable too .
Gave up a 54 pt lead to Pies who are a very good side but well down on personal .
Beat Eagles who kicked absolutely horrible .

Need to beat the Tigers and one more minimum coming home . But that's 3 wins only .

Keep in mind after 'Northball' a few media and some of their supporters had them pegged for 8 wins or so .

I think North have reached the corner. Time will tell if they actually turn it, or go backwards again.

Their last few weeks looks to have them at a similar place to where we were at times throughout the last couple years. Actually in games, out playing better opposition for periods, and putting themselves into positions where they could win the game.

Now that they've got some belief and their fundamentals sorted they can start focusing on late game scenario work and look to close out games better and get a win.
