I think it was something to do with the 12 yr old was supposed to meet the players post match but after the loss the meet got scrapped (from what I remember in the sack hinkley thread)
Just read it again and it makes more sense now. Hadn't had a coffee yet o_O

A 60% + winning rate and a bunch of finals and prelims. North and saints supporters would punch themselves in the dick just to get to that level.

I can’t think of a season when they supposedly should have won the flag. They probably deserved to play in at least one GF in his tenure but it’s hardly been a massive flop or choke.
2020 with all the COVID advantages they held against the Victorian teams springs to mind.

It's also an example of hubris, entitlement and the magical thinking that their SANFL form would immediately catapult them into heavyweight status.

It's a supporter group that is notoriously fickle. They could find their way to Football Park when things were going well, but then it was interesting to hear a reframed argument when the tarps came out that the non-attendance was a protest against the SANFL because they felt they weren't getting enough money from them.
Donuts has been there for more games than ANY other coach without getting to a Grand final.
Yet there seems (until the last couple of weeks) a complete absnece of the pressure that is placed on other current coaches (Bevo, Goodwin) who have won flags. The double standard is maddening.

Yup - home prelim and they choked against Richmond. They were minor premiers and both they and Brisbane should have gone on with it given their advantages over interstate clubs.

The bigger choke was against the dogs in 21. Spanked too

It's absolutely a generational thing. The older generation's favourite players would be guys like Matthews, Knights and Hudson, whilst supporters growing up watching us win four flags would have Hodge, Rioli, etc. as theirs. It's the same thing.

I hate Essendon because my dad told me to, and because of the line-in-the-sand game, not because of the 80's. I want to beat Geelong more than any other side because I lived through the rivalry.
Spot on

Would rather face the Cats after they’ve beaten our mortal enemy, than have them breathing fire at their home deck.

If they lose against * next week they will have lost 7 of their last 8 games.

If they were going to come out breathing fire they’d have done it already. They are struggling will be down to how we play more than how Geelong play.

They're on their knees mate.
The Dons may deliver the final fatal blow this week.
I wouldn't say they are on their knees but they are teetering on the edge.

They will get another spike in form before the final over the cliff point comes.
I think we will get there best , which will be a great test in a few weeks .

I also think they will beat * this week

Possibly one of the most egregious throws I've ever seen. How does this not get picked up?

Like staging, if it’s too hard to pick this up in real time, they should just fine players who blatantly throw.

This may not be the right thread for this question - happy for it to moved if not:

Has any team ever failed to make finals after a 7-0 start?

I reckon Sam and the boys will welcome such a challenge and, hopefully, take another step in their evolution by overcoming it. I think they're ready to take some bigger steps.
