Just read it again and it makes more sense now. Hadn't had a coffee yetI think it was something to do with the 12 yr old was supposed to meet the players post match but after the loss the meet got scrapped (from what I remember in the sack hinkley thread)
2020 with all the COVID advantages they held against the Victorian teams springs to mind.A 60% + winning rate and a bunch of finals and prelims. North and saints supporters would punch themselves in the dick just to get to that level.
I can’t think of a season when they supposedly should have won the flag. They probably deserved to play in at least one GF in his tenure but it’s hardly been a massive flop or choke.
Donuts has been there for more games than ANY other coach without getting to a Grand final. It's also an example of hubris, entitlement and the magical thinking that their SANFL form would immediately catapult them into heavyweight status.
It's a supporter group that is notoriously fickle. They could find their way to Football Park when things were going well, but then it was interesting to hear a reframed argument when the tarps came out that the non-attendance was a protest against the SANFL because they felt they weren't getting enough money from them.

Yup - home prelim and they choked against Richmond. They were minor premiers and both they and Brisbane should have gone on with it given their advantages over interstate clubs.
Ross Lyon watching closelyWaterman has really got that Frasier Gherig mullet going on. Has the same ugly looking mug too
Remind me TFPAs a Hawthorn supporter you hate Essendon. No exceptions we hate them the most. It's them number 1 then followed by the blues who nearly drove us broke paying for Princess Park when we weren't even playing there and then everyone else.
If you need to be reminded why we hate Essendon. Just let me know
Spot onIt's absolutely a generational thing. The older generation's favourite players would be guys like Matthews, Knights and Hudson, whilst supporters growing up watching us win four flags would have Hodge, Rioli, etc. as theirs. It's the same thing.
I hate Essendon because my dad told me to, and because of the line-in-the-sand game, not because of the 80's. I want to beat Geelong more than any other side because I lived through the rivalry.
Wonder if we could get Burgoyne. I'd like thatIs there anyone at port that may come our way on the cheap now...except for Hinkley
I never thought they were the best team in it that year though, nor the following. Got found out when the heat was turned up.2020 with all the COVID advantages they held against the Victorian teams springs to mind.
If they lose against * next week they will have lost 7 of their last 8 games.Would rather face the Cats after they’ve beaten our mortal enemy, than have them breathing fire at their home deck.
They're on their knees mate.Would rather face the Cats after they’ve beaten our mortal enemy, than have them breathing fire at their home deck.
We’ll be the ones to kick them out of the top 8/10.They're on their knees mate.
The Dons may deliver the final fatal blow this week.
Sure can play football though.Waterman has really got that Frasier Gherig mullet going on. Has the same ugly looking mug too
Possibly one of the most egregious throws I've ever seen. How does this not get picked up?

I wouldn't say they are on their knees but they are teetering on the edge. They're on their knees mate.

Beating the dons will give them some of the confidence they completely devoid of atmWould rather face the Cats after they’ve beaten our mortal enemy, than have them breathing fire at their home deck.
I reckon Sam and the boys will welcome such a challenge and, hopefully, take another step in their evolution by overcoming it. I think they're ready to take some bigger steps.Would rather face the Cats after they’ve beaten our mortal enemy, than have them breathing fire at their home deck.
