I heard a very bizaare story today that North Launceston are having to wear yellow jumpers for most of the season because Launceston had gotten new sponsors or something and had cancelled their jumpers, presumably a different apparel manufacturer, only the company stuffed it up and cancelled North's instead.
What a balls up that is by the company!

I read that on their Facebook just then, yes apparently there was a mix–up with the supplier.
Hobart had that happen a few years back in the SFL and had to wear white and gold for a bit there.

Tigers and Lauderdale are going to be two teams that could match Launceston from what I witnessed today.

Was a decent game of footy, Tigers ran away late but Lauderdale missing quite a few handy players, not sure they’ll be troubling Launceston though.

I don’t think any side can match Launceston. NH disappointing yesterday but it more shows how far ahead they are of other clubs. They will get back Riley, Groenewegen and Musicka soon. Seriously scary. I fear what they will do to the pies next weekend.

They’ll be the next best but can’t challenge them. Only severe run of injuries imo. Even a random bad day and Launie will still win.
NH aren’t as bad as yesterdays result.
Glenorchy under 150 and I’d be shocked unfortunately.

Tigers v Lauderdale entertaining contest. Tigers midfield top group is quite impressive - Lovell, Cole, Campbell is a very nice trio. Tomkinson will cause a few issues.

Launceston again look miles ahead of the rest.
Clarence V Kingborough by 42
Lauderdale V North Launceston by 8
Launceston v Glenorchy by outright

3/3 very straightforward Round. Lauderdale missing some top end talent and will be better next game. Will be a big game to have won by years end as 2nd spot will be right.

Tigers 60 points
Lauderdale 30 points
Launceston 210 points

I am doing some research for a book on the national Night Series that ran during the late 70s and early 80s and am trying to get some more information on a game from 1979.

The match was Tasmania v Footscray on March 16 and it was played at North Hobart Oval.

I am looking to get some scans from the program - either a scan of the whole program (if possible) or else the team lists page and if there is a page with the team ground placings (B, HB, C, etc.) I am looking for a copy of that too. If someone has a copy of the program and is willing to part with it please let me know.

At the least, I am hunting a list of player numbers for both teams.

I am also seeking the christian name of field umpire Manson.

I was at that game and Gary Cowton having just crossed over from North Melbourne to Footscray he was sporting a huge Perm hair do. I remember Barry Lawrence who was back in Tasmania grabbing Cowton by said hair do and pulling him to the ground at the Argle Street end goal square a bit of an all-in brawl ensured after that. Then again, my mind might be playing tricks after 43 years.

Unfortunately, I have no program, I suggest if no luck here posting on the following fb page “Tasmanian Australian Football Past Players, Officials and Family

A number of people on the referred-to Facebook page confirm your story as fact.

Went to North Hobart for about the last quarter and a half today. Kingborough impressive. Clarence just butchered a few passes and shots on goal, but I don’t think they’ll be as bad as everyone is saying
Certainly not. I think we will be a lot better than what people think.

Clarence just have had height available.

Amazing that Wylie missed with covid and on top of that Owen, Mccullum, McGee and Alomes all over 193cm are at a training session with Devils instead of playing. Clarence boys didn’t get to play for their club in round 1 either. Add to that Jack Callinan who I’m sure the public want to see play.
Another self inflicted black eye by AFLTAS.
