According to the old formula, the maximum age bonus was +12 for being 26. I don't think there was a way to get any more? If so, Hewett should get the same age bonus, and then it simply comes down to salary. If Hewett's is similar, we should get the same compo. If Hewett is higher, we might get band 3.
You've gotten band 4.

The fact Hewett and Chol get the same compensation should be cause to overhaul the system. Absolutely baffling decision.

He has qualified as a RFA so has to be paid in the top 10% of players on the list or something yeah??

so in short, more than any of the above…

At Sydney though? Carlton could be offering him a decrease which is still more than Carlton. His FA status in 2021 doesn't mean anything for his 2022 salary

He's solid, offer nothing offensively. But Cripps, Hewett + Cerra/Walsh would be a good combination of offense, defense and skill
Is that the clapped out 2021 version of Cripps or the 2019 version you're imagining in 2022?

Don't know why we're not linked to Hewett, we have a heap of cap space and he comes for free

Considering I made no comment on his actual ability or form, it doesn't matter which version of Cripps we are talking about does it.

Honestly - this is a pretty good spot for the swans to be in here. Wont even offer a contract until the RFA period, because there is no upside. We can either match market rate (which will be materially lower this year) or we can let him go and get AFL compo.

Personally - whilst I know Longmire loves him and he is best 22 it isn't a long term crippling blow, i predict after Carlton sign Cerra there will be some lukewarm offers in $250k range and we will retain him.

I hope your scenario plays out but the offers will be far bigger

Offers nothing defensively? He's our major tagger in the middle and has shut down many a star mid.

Another powerful game on the weekend. 13 tackles  and as many contested possessions as any Giants midfielder on the day. Engine room footballer. Stood up in absence of JPK and Mills. We couldnt have asked for more.
Interest will come most from the SA clubs and GC i feel, but the only rumours so far seem to be Carlton being very keen and Essendon sniffing. Supposedly no negotiations or commitments to date. He's on good coin around 500-550Kps. RFA 25yo 186cm 85kg.
Would think Essendon would be the best fit. Carlton already seems to have enough midfielders with presence but limited skills (especially since they over paid Cripps to stay given his c grade performance this year)

Not so sure. Dons do like flankers, and George is definitely no flanker.

Bit of player history coz he's strangely still not so well known outside Swans circles. South Aussie taken in draft at pick 32. He actually took 2 yrs to get his first game for Sydney and debuted same game as Papley in 2016. Hewett immediately cemented a spot even though it was a fairly strong team, and played 48 of the next 50 games.

I still think the real money will come out of SA. Carlton rumour still going around but any mob needing an inside/clearance mid will enquire. He's been on pretty reasonable coin for his age, but everyone is taking a shave these days so who knows. Quality footballer and popular fella.

Would be a great recruitment - loved George when he was drafted as the youngest in the pool. Good role player and brings a heap of experience from a successful environment.

Blues need these types to turn our young guns into winners.

Hewett is easily best 22 in any club going around. Can play inside mid, tagger or medium forward all to relative success. He gets a good amount of the ball, quick with his hands, tries real bloody hard, decent enough mark but overall no outstanding traits. He's very reliable, solid addition to every team, might give you a star match once in a while but don't expect much more than a real solid role player. Whichever club grabs him will play him every week but no all star

How do Swans fans rate his clearance and overall inside midfield ability? I've always felt its genuinely good, not elite but a B+/A-, but the numbers don't back that up. Career high 4.7 Clearances a game; though that could be underselling his impact because he plays as a tagger/defensive minded mid fairly frequently? Maybe?

Feels like he's never really been unleashed to hunt the footy outside of 2019(22 touches 4.0 clearances that year so not amazing numbers) but for some reason I always felt he could do a little more, get up closer to 25 and 5 area; ~11 contested possessions a game in 2019 and he was still tagging a bit that year wasn't he?

Was pretty good in the Elim...and it doesn't feel like the Swans have a JPK replacement lined up, HUGE Warner/Rowbottom fan but feels like those two would play better off a bull like Hewett. So personally really hope he stays, but if he's not playing in the guts on a relatively weak midfield group then to be honest letting him go makes sense(I assume the Swans have been partially developmental focused with that), I've just wanted to see him play ahead of JPK for a couple of years now. Does letting Reid go open up enough to bring Hewett back on 400-500K a year?

I'd be pretty excited for him in Carlton or Gold Coast, tho probably would prefer Blues since Greenwood a one-trick pony and potentially may not mesh w Hewett optimally, the Carlton fit feels cleaner IMHO

I may be an outlier but I have always rated his clearance work. Most of the time he does not get to go in there, but if someone like Kennedy has been injured in the past Longmire has made Hewett an inside mid and he has always done really well, before Kennedy comes back and Hewett is moved out of the inside mids again.

I have been arguing for years on the Swans board to move Hewett to the inside mids and leave him there, that he is a natural Kennedy replacement.
