According to the old formula, the maximum age bonus was +12 for being 26. I don't think there was a way to get any more? If so, Hewett should get the same age bonus, and then it simply comes down to salary. If Hewett's is similar, we should get the same compo. If Hewett is higher, we might get band 3.
You've gotten band 4.

The fact Hewett and Chol get the same compensation should be cause to overhaul the system. Absolutely baffling decision.

You know he was runner in up in their Best and fairest in 2019 to Rampe?

Yeah and suppose they never wanted him anyway….. 🧐😂

Ignore him. Seems to have an inflated sense of fair value for Richmond players, and NFI when it comes to anyone else.

Shows how much you know. Swans are under massive cap pressure and have to let players walk.

Your trolling never gets old.
God you can be petty. Not everyone who disagrees with your particular opinion is trolling. Grow up

FTR, my belief is that it's partly due to salary cap, but slightly more complex than that. At the start of the year when we had our full midfield available for selection, Hewett was selected in the backline. We had Parker, Mills, Rowbottom, Warner, and Kennedy getting plenty of time in the midfield. Then, we had Warner, Rowbottom, McInerney, Papley, Heeney, and Gulden rotating through the midfield.

I don't think that the choice to rotate those players through the midfield necessarily means Sydney thought they were better midfielders at the present time than Hewett, but rather they probably viewed Hewett as being more similar to those 3 aforementioned players that are first in-line than any of those listed, hence it makes more sense to rotate players with different strengths (speed and explosiveness probably the most relevant ones) through there.

Then, there's Setphens and Campbell, who you can add to that list in the next few years, with only Kennedy to be removed from it.

That leaves Parker, Mills, Warner, Rowbottom, and Stephens as our main midfielders. And then there's Gulden, Campbell, McInerney, Heeney, and Papley rotating through there, with the first three all potentially becoming players that play predominantly in the midfield. I think we've had a pretty one-dimensional midfield in recent years, and the club are backing in players with different traits to our primary midfielders to buck that trend.

Thus, with Parker and Mills still there for the entirety of Hewett's peak, and young players developing that they have ahead of him for strategic and structural reasons, at $450k/season it would ultimately be a waste for both parties for us to keep Hewett on our books. I think he's worth that much, but we'd be spending just shy of $2million per year on him, Mills, and Parker, who all share really similar qualities.

You said the Swans don’t want a player who was us runner up in their B & F.

Go read their own board for proof on how they are discussing losing him as a FA due to cap pressure.

Yet I am petty and need to grow up… Don’t get on the back foot because your trolling crap is being called out.

Even Swans supporters in here are telling me to ignore your crap.

Actually go on the Swans board and tell them they never wanted him anyway because you seem to be an expert regarding their list management.

That will end well for you. 🤣

This is about Hewett himself not the compo who you clearly stated the Swans didn’t want anyway and who cares what Mitch Cleary thinks. Go read the Swans board.
Wat. The sentence literally says “ a player they never really wanted to keep” it literally backs up my original point/opinion of Carlton offering a player not deemed worthy of being offered 450k/ Sydney not even really wanting to keep him anyway a 4 year deal. If you disagree good luck to you but IMO he is fairly average and 4 years is ridiculous overs

I think Hewett will be instrumental towards the growth and development of Cerra and Walsh.

A centre bounce mix of Cripps, Hewett, Cerra and Walsh is a perfect mix of offense and defense.

But that could also mean that the 850k a year Zac Williams will probably play out the rest of his career downback, which although not ideal, is not a disaster, since I rate him more as a HBFer anyways.

Also not sure where that leaves Setterfield? Was on the verge of a breakout and now looks to be on the outer when it comes to midfield rotations.

yeah even carlton supporters arent sure whats happened with setterfield, had a really promising 2020 year, and by all reports was looking really good in the preseason ready to have a big breakout year, but was pretty much irrelevant the entire year. Had a few injuries and did absolutely nothing and the games he did play he looked very disinterested/didnt want to be out there, has to be more to it imo. Maybe under a new coach he can have the breakout year majority of the carlton supporters were expecting next year (fingers crossed).

Been in Carlton's best players for the 2nd week in a row.

Really has settled in nicely at the Blues and added much added grunt and polish to our midfield, as well as been a quality run with/shut down player.

The Swans have such a talented high end list and inevitably they couldn't keep everyone they wanted, but I couldn't be happier with George so far, really smart recruiting by us.

A bit like Tom Mitchell to Hawthorn this one

See it more like Prestia to Richmond. Strong contested body to free up the inside workload of Cripps and allow him to swing forward.

Prestia did wonders for Dusty. Cripps looks like he has a new lease on his footy life.

Yeah I wasn't talking about player type more like impact at new club versus pick back at the new club
