According to the old formula, the maximum age bonus was +12 for being 26. I don't think there was a way to get any more? If so, Hewett should get the same age bonus, and then it simply comes down to salary. If Hewett's is similar, we should get the same compo. If Hewett is higher, we might get band 3.
You've gotten band 4.

The fact Hewett and Chol get the same compensation should be cause to overhaul the system. Absolutely baffling decision.

Shame the AFL can't spell his name right

Just a strange but typical Carlton get.
What's strange about identifying players that you think will make you better, then trying to get them into the club?
What's a 'typical Carlton get'? And how does this fit that?

Philip and Carrol options as well. Maybe even Cunningham later in the year.

Blues have invested plenty of draft capital into their midfield just need someone to grab a spot.
The Blues shouldn't have a problem developing those fine young men into great footballers.

It won't be band 5 if Chol got band 4
Chol is only 24, youngest FA to ever move (he qualifies as a formerly delisted player). That gives him extra points compared to older guys who are typically 26+ Not sure if it counts as a point of reference given 2 points for every year younger makes a decent amount of difference.

The old formula was published under the assumption that free agents were all going to be 26+ because they were all in the system for a minimum of 8 years at a single club and had been drafted at 18+. Delisted players were only free agents in the year they were delisted and if re-drafted elsewhere they wouldn't be a free agent the next time. Existing restricted/unrestricted free agents would also not have been eligible as a free agent if they came out of contract again after moving clubs as a free agent.

Then we brought in lifetime free agency two years ago and all of those guys were suddenly free agents forever, even if they were delisted at 20. That suddenly makes it possible for someone under the age of 26 to move as a free agent, and appears to have augmented the criteria that the formula has to deal with.

Per reports, that appears to be exactly what happened with Chol. Be interesting to see what Suma Magic comes up with if he updates his analysis of the formula.
