In retrospect, the business community should've known this Grand Final Eve public holiday was coming once Daniel Andrews was elected Premier. In fact, Andrews first mooted the idea of a Grand Final Eve public holiday as early as 2011 while he was Opposition Leader.

That a lot of the government's actions are more concerned with keeping their union mates happy than the good of the people/state? Yes.

Mind you, I also think the same applies to the Libs and their multi-million dollar 'contributors', although they don't tend to be *quite* as entwined with them.

City was busy. From late Thursday night thanks to 5 Seconds Of Summer performing at Federation Square Friday morning. Young and Jacksons had a queue in operation at 1pm. Shops were busy everywhere in the city.

Hats off to Dan Andrews, I wasn't overly happy when he was elected because it meant east west link would be scrapped. But after recently starting my first full time job and working 50+ I loved the extra day off. Small business owners need to stop being so greedy.
