What position was Zane Williams playing in the VFL in the last 3 rounds? As he started to increase his possession count.

Also, I didn't know Ted Clohesy played a VFL game, 15 touches, 5 tackles and 1.1, that's okay. We must be interested in him.

I'd love to see a side with Close and Clohsey as well, like with the possibility of two Henrys.

I haven't added a kpd. That feels like a mistake
Sav has expressed desire to be a KPD and that makes sense. He has some weaponry that we can utilise.

People say ruckman take longer and they do but, Tsap played his first year in the VFL and people want to dump him, He will play again next year, and so he should

I'm not so sure. If Conway is playing then the club will want him in the ruck 80% of the time. Hard to develop two out and out ruckman at the same time. Let alone ticking someone like Ceglar over in case he is needed in the AFL side.

He showed some good development this year from a long way back obviously. No reason to cut him yet, most of the cat b rookies take a long time so we’d be replacing him with someone who is years away.

I find it interesting there are a lot of posts in this thread suggesting we need another Ruckman because Conway is still 2 years away. A kid who was a first round pick and considered the best Ruckman in his draft year.
Yet we want to delist a Basketballer after 1 VFL season who was always a project player. If we are allowing a talent like Conway 3 years then a novice like Tsapatolis should be afforded at least 5 years, unless of course he is that bad and shows no signs of improvement in the coming seasons.

Once the planets aligned and Conway was selected then that changes the future outlook for Tsap. If he is taking ruck minutes away from Conway at VFL level, that is bad for Conway's development. If they dump Tsap in the forward line for the majority of the game to change over with Conway, he is getting in the way of Neale and that is bad for Neale's development. It is not possible to have a functioning VFL team and carry someone like Tsap. If he is still miles behind Conway/Neale now then there is no point in continuing, put the development coaching into someone else.

I "love" the way a supporter base asses a players mental strength. Reading the OH thread ..Henry is now a mental weakling if he not willing to stay at Collingwood in at least one supporter's opinion.

Yet I have no doubt if someone like TBruhn lands at Collingwood he will be welcomed coming to them with open arms as a future champ.

Players that have no choice in their destination will continue to make personal choices in where they want to aply their trade. If it would be a very different comp if every player had the same choice that a Rookie B player did, and the clubs had the chance to sign a kid as Priority signing.

It happens a lot with kids that get drafted interstate but it would be fairly unprecedented for a first round pick to request a trade to another team in the same state after two seasons, particularly when the new club doesn't on the surface appear to offer any better opportunities to play week in week out at AFL level.

I think Holmes was from Sandringham. If he came out and requested a trade to St Kilda I think it is far to say we would all be a little dirty.

Rucks is a funny position. They same to develop at different rates ..and seem to swap clubs at a higher rate because opportunity is a key part of their development. Look at Fort at his second club..and I not be surprised if he lands at their eventually, and the more he players the better he gradually becomes.

I'd say if Tsap is to be he must be a #1 ruck..a bit like Conway. I cant see him being like Blitz or Neale. Someone like Dek may end up as a ruck as he matures , he has some much upside and flex.

It's really up Tsap. If he dominates Conway then her would push him self ahead of him, but but there is probably only a spot for a sole #1 ruck in a best22. (unless you are Melb)

True.

My point is.. they had no choice.

To be honest some one like Kelly , who was passed over multiple times should not have to be drafted ...maybe we get Stewart etc without draft..while Kelly just signs at WC.. and we do not see him at all.. but we already have Father Son , academy and Rookie B...if we add one for mature players... that even more inequity to kids. ...and I totally disagree with the idea on making draftees 3 or 4 years ...with no input into their destination as some in the media would like.

Of course supporter bases can be dirty ... and biased. The booing insanity shows that ... but if you welcome a Buckley after one year (for example) you have to be willing to wear the odd one that goes the other way. ... and questioning one mental strength seems poor. Gold Coast board call every kid that wants to move bed wetters... as if they automatically should want to play there.

Clubs like them would be better targeting mature players. I think the idee of 2e for them is probably a good one. Professional and still playing well.

For us yes it would hurt ...if Holmes chose to move from a side in a PF to a non finals side but players should have input into their destination. The difference between Holmes and lets say Henry is probably selection. If Henry was selected for the finals.. probably make it harder to move.

There are just so many factors that go into a player selecting to stay at a club or trying to leave.

Sure selection is one of them... But there's just so many more, and every case will be different.

If it advantages us... Good, but if not, you just do your best and move on because players will be making these kinds of decisions forever.

I agree with Turbocat - too many are prepared to label players weak, selfish, soft etc etc. It's nearly always when it's perceived that the player in question has seemed to go against our wishes or disappointed us in some way (Clark's missed goal). The Henry case is different, of course. True, it's unusual for a player to request a trade after his first 2 years - if indeed that's what Henry has done. But I don't think we can make that the basis of a negative character assessment.

As for JDG, as they say in modern parlance; that bird has flown. Let's hope some of our lads with mediocre finals records can lift in the same manner.

I agree but we cant replace tsap on the list unless we find 2 cat b players so we may as well give him another year.

I agree with that but they could play tsap as a key defender in vfl where he isnt blocking anyone as we are short on key defenders

I agree he should particular given it is a rookie B spot. But “I have heard” (for what that is worth) that he won’t get a contract next year which means they have a better category B coming in (and want to use other rookie spots so only have 1 B) or something in training says they just don’t believe there is any chance of development…

Either way I am ok if he stays or they know something I dont

Thats odd because unless the afl makes a special ruling mckenna cant be a cat b so we would have to have 2 cat b players coming in to need to get rid of him
