AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Think we will get Henry and he will be a good addition.Think the Dees might have been a bit bedazzled by Gawn's goalkicking form late last season (his 5 in the PF seriously was an out of the arse performance). But this year his goalkicking has regressed a bit, and he misses many shots he was slotting from 50-55m in his golden patch.
I would be very happy with Ollie Henry, and Bruhn as a young mid with a couple of years in the system could be a good pick-up too. Not too fussed with not having Hopper, he is coming off a knee, and sometimes we don't always get the best outcome picking players off injury.
Man, I was dirty when he flipped on us... He looked like a really handy bonus prospect.Anything on if oisin Mullen is still interested in coming to Geelong?
I agree he should particular given it is a rookie B spot. But “I have heard” (for what that is worth) that he won’t get a contract next year which means they have a better category B coming in (and want to use other rookie spots so only have 1 B) or something in training says they just don’t believe there is any chance of development…
Either way I am ok if he stays or they know something I dont
That would be unlikely particularly to a club like us who already is skilled at putting a list together. Usually the opposite is rewarded.Thats odd because unless the afl makes a special ruling mckenna cant be a cat b so we would have to have 2 cat b players coming in to need to get rid of him
I really wanted him at the club too.Man, I was dirty when he flipped on us... He looked like a really handy bonus prospect.
Even watched a full Gaelic match he played in... Looked super powerful, agile & fast.
I think he has the potential to be a super handy rebounding defender.
Fingers crossed he changes his mind and gets to us sooner or later.

McKenna could potentially be picked up as an ssp rookie pick though can’t he?
If there is competition for him though it might need to be a main list spot.
At what stage/list spot level can McKenna nominate his $$$Its true mckenna might only want a senior list spot not rookie spot if he has a choice of clubs.

Yeah, that's asking someone to swap you a $100 note for a 50.Say we go to draft this year with our first round pick, do we go best available Key Position? or midfielder?
Eg. Assuming we get neither of Bruhn (*melb based club bound), Hopper (tigers) or Grundy (Demons), but through a stroke of luck and persistence we get the OOC Oliver Henry with some later pick swaps (pick downgrades), eg something like Pick 36+46, for Henry+48 - wishful thinking lol.
Could be wrong but I think ssp you can only join the rookie listYes mckenna can go onto the cat A rookie list via ssp as per paddy mccartin but he cant go onto the cat b rookie list so if we delist tsapa we cant fill the list spot except with another cat b.
Its true mckenna might only want a senior list spot not rookie spot if he has a choice of clubs.
I love the fact every players wants to come here and other clubs have to front up with huge cash or long contracts to get

Yeah, I said wishful. But we could offer 2 x R2s... This year's and next. And we could get some change back. He is OOC.Yeah, that's asking someone to swap you a $100 note for a 50.

Cool, on the same page then. I just don't understand why McKenna would care which list he was on if it was functionally the same.Yes thats correct (paddy mccartin is currently rookie listed) but you can nominate salary terms above the minimum wage as a cat A rookie (just like im sure close and atkins are on above rookie wages in this way) and i assume this is also allowed via SSP as the player is on the same Cat A rookie list.
It's very doubtful but we can hope. What the go with Tom DeKoning development?

Sure, but a club, especially geelong, isn't going to make a guarantee and not follow through. The only difference as far as i know is it allows you the security of being on a list earlier ie senior list you can get on via ND/PSD in november whereas SSP you have to wait until the dec/jan window for a club to sign you as an ssp rookie but in terms of pay i think you can nominate salary on either list.
I would slot him in at CHB and play him alongside his brother. He is being played out of position IMO and would be a top line key defender just like his younger brother. It's very doubtful but we can hope.
In a couple of years when Hawkins hangs them up, TDK playing key forward/2nd ruck with Conway taking over as first ruck could be a good combo for a long time.
