I didn't expect us to be 7-0 tbh. Thought middle of the pack at this stage. Do we have a mid season pick and if so would be good to go after someone previously in the system, ready to go. To top us off.
No pick unless we forcibly retire someone

watching that carlton game again it showed we were second best in the midfield in terms of the key stats. they just couldnt capitalise. ugle hagan would be nice but i think the pressing need is in the middle, a monster clearance specialist
I’m assuming that’s why LDU’s name came up. Similar numbers to Bont and Nick Daicos in Centre Bounce Clearances and stoppage clearances similar numbers to Dunkley and Petracca.

Same number of Total Clearances as Jack Steele.

If we really wanted to ... someone might get put on LTI list. We have not seen Edwards yet... would it really matter if he just spent the year in the gym?

The question is... is there someone that good that we would be desperate to put on our list. I look at Ess .. and wish we could add a Sam Durham If there is some like him then Id say yes. Our mid season attempts have not been as good as Id expect considering we tend to like going for the rhubarb players.

With Danger going down..it probably on makes us more depserate for a power mid type like Bail Smith. I suspect it was only the bashing that Carlton were giving us , was the reason Danger went into that middle playing at full throttle. Is his future playing at 85% , is it a forwardline 85% ?

I honestly feel ... there are echos or an era of times past ..where we had a group that non were recognised as super gun AA types ..then we ended up with a team of them. Demp and Max could be two guys who end up being anything if teghy keep developing and getting better.

Id be havng a serious look at what we have done in getting Bruhn or Bowes. We like a type so with the introduction of the talent at Gold Coast ... som every talented guys are probably going to be missing out. Davies was highly rated. At GWS Angwin was a kid who had high end running.

Im sure there are others. If we can find one or two more of the unloved in that 20-23 age group ..it really changes the list profile.

He is going to have a lot of offers. Go to his old coach at Ess. Big money to stay or move. No doubt if he signals that he is interested in us we will be all over it. North will be bottom and will not match for a P2 or P3

(Not sure why LDU .. reminds me of the old mixed drink UDL... )

The guy is a gun.

Everyone will be having a dip at him.

Just gotta cross our fingers he likes Gtown lifestyle.

I feel thats the case with most FA's . If they signal interest then we will seriously look at it. Where does he fit. Can we afford it. etc. Horribly for North.. but this is the cost of taking the plug out and draining the swamp. Good luck to them I think tehy will need it. Gold Coast have the acc, kids plus this year another three R1 picks. The Tas will come in.

If LDU wants a payday then he wont be at Geelong.

If he wants a change of lifestyle and a chance to be in contention each year and make reasonable coin... then we are a chance.

If he wants a big smoke club and living in Melbourne -then we are out of it... all of which are ok.

I want him to want to be here -

doubt LDU be the guy as he is still contracted for next year. North will rightfully ask for a ton in a trade. Maybe Smith but he is coming about from a reco, who knows how he recovers.

Free agent the year after though and North would get a top 5 compo pick.

We are all talking about LDU as a FA at the end of next year.

But yes, Smith will be someone we are into this year.

We just gotta cross our fingers that good players want to come to Geelong because they always have lots of options.

Done deal to Collingwood already IMO, even 18 months out. Collingwood came out and said their priority will be to throw the cash around for free agents to keep their draft capital. Next minute LDU puts off contract talks.

Bailey Smith seriously overrated in here. If Ollie Henry not playing team football once or twice a week upsets Geelong supporters, wait til you watch Smith closely. Burns a team mate and proceeds to butcher the pill as good as anyone in the game.

Our whole team seems so humble and all play their roles so well, it is a joy to watch, and the envy of many opposition supporters. Do we really see Bailey Smith slotting into any of that?

I don’t think he is as required as many thought as little as three or so months ago.

Interesting. I think the impact Danger had on ball sort of showed our deficiency..of that burst tank type. Is that him? I guess we wait and see if we are in the group of clubs that put their hats in the ring.

Why are most people here fixated on Smith. He has possibly one of the worst disposal efficiency ratings in the comp. Added to this the risk of coming off an ACL. He is a red flag for me.
