Yeah he's always been servicable. And can point to many other moments in the game which really cost us.We all know that Stanley was never in the top echelon of rucks during his career, but he's been a damn solid player for us across the past decade and gets the raw end of the deal at times from the fans
The real problem was Big O got injured, and that gave Rhys the opportunity to absolutely dominate and take control of the match and he didn't.On one leg and rushed into taking the kick. I'm not holding that against him.
Rhys has too many brain fades. Had a great 22 finals though.
The miss in this year's prelim is rhys career
Are we able to trade picks with clubs atm or before the draft? or is that only live during draft night?
Part of it is about age, to be fair.List the KPF in the afl .. I doubt too many are less than 194cm… it depends on the player. I want a player who can win their own ball in contested marks , have the knowledge to use leading patterns to get some easier ball on the lead.. and be a good setshot. Its rare you get everything
I remember sitting back thinking "Rhys will miss this" when it happened. Not his forte at the best of times, let alone on one leg. That happened in front of me
Stanley was clearly injured, could barely stand and couldn't put any pressure through his leg after the kick - the pain he was in was evident and felt really sorry for him in that moment
Considering Stengle had more than a few brain fades in the prelim, including missing two goals from the top of the goal square when on one occasion he has an option to handball to an open Dempsey, plus the stupid attempted mark that he got no where near costing Neale a set shot - should we look to replace him also?
Shit happens in matches - if you've got to pinpoint a single moment after the match was essentially over, it's probably not a winning point
Whether he kicked that goal or not made absolutely no difference to the outcome. We wouldn't have won anyway.I remember sitting back thinking "Rhys will miss this" when it happened. Not his forte at the best of times, let alone on one leg.
You're right though, it's not on him. If you're genuinely good enough we should have never been in that position in the first place, and there's a few higher paid players who didn't hold up their end of the bargain as you say.
The whole thing seems to already have taken on a mandela effect of sorts.
Even if he kicked the goal, it was only going to give us the slimmest of chances. It wasn't the kick to win us the game.

Regardless of how you rate them, they have 5 KPFs on their list, it’s unlikely they’ll draft a 6th.
Aside from trying to stay in the media for longer, I have very little idea why the draft is so far away from the end of the trade period. Would make so much sense to allow all the list managers/recruiters to just back up not long after the trade period then take a break.
Would help the kids too as they would be able to get organised with regards to relocation, start getting treatment for injuries or programs to ready themselves for the start of the pre-season.
Could push the trade period till just before it instead of right after the GF.Year 12 exams primarily is why they won't bring the draft date forward there's an embargo on the clubs contacting the draftees much during the exam period.

It was moronic he took the shot.I remember sitting back thinking "Rhys will miss this" when it happened. Not his forte at the best of times, let alone on one leg.

He knew there was only seconds on the clock, the clock is running because he has the ball in his hands. He couldn't wait around for oppo players to get dragged out the zone and another player to present for him. I think it would have been moronic to draw the clock downIt was moronic he took the shot.
Should have stayed down and went off the ground/got a replacement kicker.
Poor on-field leadership by all our guys at the time.
From memory the clock only started once he got up and took the ball (whilst injured). He knew there was only seconds on the clock, the clock is running because he has the ball in his hands. Might have to watch it again but he marked it and I think the ball was given straight to him. He got back up straightaway but this was probably just on adrenaline. So he was in the position of being injured and draining a clock at the same time. From memory the clock only started once he got up and took the ball (whilst injured).
Highlights my main problem with Stanley. My issue is he should have dominated the game against inexperienced rucks, gave our midfield service on a silver platter and yet despite smashing them in the numbers for hit outs he didn't really have enough of an impact.

If Conway stays healthy, he's gonna be so good for us. It's amazing how well we've done over the last decade with the ruck setup we've had. Props to Stanley for all he's contributed (including helping us win a Premiership) but I am excited about the prospect of good service for our guys in the middle.Highlights my main problem with Stanley.
I acknowledge that he has been more than useful on occasions but his hit outs, even when he wins the contest, are often ineffective.

Charlie Curnow is probably the shortest of the current generation at 194. Someone like Fogarty is probably that in-between height at 192 (we'll call it the Charlie Gardiner problem).
Floyd looks to me more that mobile ruck that can push forward rather than a KPF that can ruck if that makes sense? I’d prefer the latter as a priority atm.
If we are talking other names, Hamish Davis is another whose vision I like the look of. Goal kicking mids are gold. He looks to have plenty of development and potential.
Tex looks marginally taller on field... but they are both similar imhoIm a bit sus on listed heights but footywire has fog the same as Tex…. but if agree on him being the Kersten type.
