Hard to know really in the back end. Imagine landing both.
Would certainly be nice.

Not necessarily our picks 57 75 and onwards will come in so we might just take 45 plus 3 in the 60s (similar to what we did last year). I'm not sure we trade back in unless the value us good.
Sounds an insightful analogy ..not that I could judge drafting in the NFL. Neale had the athletic profile that seems a good foundation … it would seem like a adding a Stumpf type might appeal to a club look for a cheap QB. Neale went at P33 it was a reasonable draft pick …Larkey was a very good findYeah it feels like what they've predicted is a long way off.
If it did eventuate that way, I'd honestly consider trading back in to pick up two of Gerryn/Stumpf/Sims...but I can't see all 3 being available for us at our first, let alone after our pick.
Key forwards to me are a little like QBs in the NFL. If you're relatively settled on a needs basis across your list, you just take one or two late in most drafts, providing they've got a semblance of talent, and it looks like their skills transfer.
If they're good enough to make it, you've plucked the most prized position in football cheaply, and can either lock in that magnet on the whiteboard for 15 years, or trade them out for a small fortune.
If they don't, you just churn the list and keep on looking. It's not like those later picks are highly valued or likely to make it anyway.
I doubt clubs expected Lewis, Larkey, Treacy, Walker, heck even Neale to become what they did when they plucked them from relative obscurity, but sometimes you just strike gold.
I know we don’t have to. But I’d be surprised if we don’t try.
On paper sure but I'm not sure I remember that draft specifically in that way. With the covid impacts to the 2s i remember picks past about 25 being completely unpredictable.Sounds an insightful analogy ..not that I could judge drafting in the NFL. Looking at the non-academy or father sons picks it's Neale and Beau McReary really.
Geezz you'd hope not.Cooper stephens I’ve just spotted down at the club talking with what looks to be an official…
Heard the words “next year” murmured when walking past
Back on the list as a rookie maybe?
No current season stats available
Andrew Mackie and Nigel lappin walked in and straight to the table. Cooper could be a cat again
What pick would you be prepared to trade from our future stock and for what pick range on the night?? I can’t imagine our FF1st for 28I know we don’t have to. But I’d be surprised if we don’t try.
Big move to play WAFLCooper Stephens joins the Royals!
The East Perth football Club is delighted to announce the signing of AFL player Cooper Stephens! Hailing from the Geelong Falcons in the NAB League, Stephens joined AFL side Geelong with pick #16 in the 2019 National Draft. He made his debut against GWS in Round 8, 2022, amassing 19 diposals in...eastperthfc.com.au
If we give up our FF for #28 I'll spew up Terry Wallace style. What pick would you be prepared to trade from our future stock and for what pick range on the night?? I can’t imagine our FF1st for 28
Yeah but were talking diamonds in the rough starting in the late 20sNo doubt that period dried the draft talent … but as in your previous post Treacy was a rookie that year… so there were players to be found..

Pretty much everyone in here preferred trading #17 for Smith before our FF.
That #17 will push out a few spots after bids but will still be way earlier than #28.
So I can imagine that "if" we didn't want to trade our FF for Smith (totally guessing here) we wouldn't trade our FF for a pick before that Doggies selection we traded for Smith.
But... In the end it all depends on what player is available at the time and if we deem him worthy of trading our FF to snag.
Still doesn’t answer what I saw today
For me it’s not so much about what pick I’d be prepared to trade our FF for rather than what player.
No shock that we are thin on tall forwards. I’d be prepared to pay a premium for Gerreyn or Sims even if that means that it’s pick 28 (after FS, academy picks) that is the pick we trade for.
Even could make a case for trading our FF for Clarke. But I’d probably rather use our pick 45 for Jaques who is a similar type.
I just want us to walk away with a couple of guys I have confidence in.
