I hear Rowell's a big believer in the adage that "the grass is always greener/tastier on the Joel Selwood stand side"

Rowell… We have been mentioned as being interested before …so no huge surprise… As usual it gets down to the player. If Gold Coast actually do something he probably stays ..but pressure is on ..they need to start winning. I guess what we offer would suit some that are hungry for wins and finals. I like that we are linked to a OOC player. It does make trades a bit easier to happen. Still probably cost more than we got BSmith for.

The thing is, whenever Geelong target someone, it's usually a process which has been years in the making.
If the media have only just heard about it, Rowell & the club would have expressed interest a while back in some capacity.

I think he would be a wonderful acquisition.
A defensive-minded midfielder in the Selwood mold.

The great thing about it not being a "secret" anymore is that now we get to watch the nuffies melt about us bringing in another elite player.
Or is the billy goat a smokescreen for getting LDU and Oliver on the cheap #4dchess

Imagine the melts that would result from us getting 2 of LDU, Oliver or Rowell at the end of this year. It would advance climate change a few decades at least.

The same person it always is: the agent who is trying to drive his players price up.

That was the obvious answer, so if I were Scott I'd be telling Rowell that 'if you want to come to the GFC you tell your agent to keep his mouth shut.If he doesn't do that we'll take your answer to be no.'

A private apartment.

Only 4 attendees named.

Who let the cat out of the bag?

Excuse the pun.

Probably Matty's manager trying to get an increased offer from either the Sun's or another party - he's been linked with a return to Melbourne for about a year now

If we did that then we'd never get another player across again. This is how it works. Once a second club shows interest in a player coming over then it is the responsibility of the players agent to play those clubs off against each other to maximise the deal his player gets. At least this time it got out later, no paparazzi style shots of Scott at Adelaide Airport like when we wanted Travis Boak.

More than Smith (discounted by the knee) certainly. He would cost 2 r1s (gc would want at least one to be in the top 10) so if we make finals that's a hard sell. I think he's worth 2 r1s by the way but I doubt he leaves gc when they are finally on the up so I reckon this will be like the boak thing.

Agents never keep their mouths shut.

Worth is something I always find hard to nail .. OOC but his age and previous #1 etc … lets face it each trade has its own dna. I agree that GC start winning , and having done the hard years he may want to hang around. No blood no foul … so no issue with us showing interest and putting on a bit of tangible Sal Cap kpa. In the end happy players usually stay …so Id say odd are in favour of him staying ….. atm.

Rowell had his own significant injury concerns, lest we not forget, KNEE and SHOULDER.
His last 3 seasons have been great.
