Crows were never serious. Apparently never put an offer in. Were obviously driving the price up. Kornes just got played, classic.

We were serious. But what you want is a commitment in goodfaith to negotiate an offer. If we just chucked offers out there thats when players take it and run to other clubs to negotiate with them. Motlop never gave a commitment and he ended up just using our generic interest to boost Ports offer.

I don't know where you heard this however we most certainly did put an offer on the table
Our offer would have had serious performance triggers ... but you'd say that we put something to his management considering how far through the process he got with us. You don't go public with "we are interested" unless you are.

From a purely fan pov, I was happy when he didn't choose us. I can continue my deep dislike for him and what he represents :)

We may have been slightly interested but believed he was off to power anyway. Power been working on him all year. His manager played the media well and helped his client get overs while helping the cats get ablett. Cornes hurt his own club by telling lies though.

I think you push for 12 for Charlie. Then you give that to Carlton.

Probably slightly pisses off Brisbane, but everyone else should be reasonably happy.
Then they can give 12 to Brisbane for Schacke. :) Maybe just a player swap to avoid #12 going around in a circle?

Job done then. The more salary cap they use on him the better.

Excuse me some of us dont even think he is worth pick 16.
If we could get Gibbs for pick 16 I would accept that. There has to be a level of being realistic. I wouldnt give pick 12 (if we get that) so no way would I give pick 10 but I do think Gibbs is worth 16/18. Having said that if we were in rebuild and five years away from our window then there is no way Gibbs would be worth 16 but because we are in our window yep I would make that trade.

If Milera doesn't step up next season it would have to be said it's doubtful he was worth a 1st round pick at that point, I honestly thought he showed a fair bit more in his 1st season than the the one just past.
Yes. Hopefully, he comes to grips with need to get involved and be courageous with his disposals because that's where he can be damaging. The biggest disappointment with him this year for me was his tentativeness. Just played way too safe all the time.

However, the point I was making is, even if he comes along in leaps and bounds, neither he nor anyone else on the list of up and comers looks at this stage of their development to be able to play a major role in the midfield the way a mature, high quality recruit would. And I think we need it, especially if we're going to cover Smith as well. Hampton a maybe but very iffy still.

Definitely agree here, picks 10 and 12 are going to gain us a quality player with 10+ years. (assuming no Lever)

I cant see Gibbs playing at his peak in season 3 for us. So he probably has at best two quality years in him.

I'm not sure how our offer was structured by like you I would assume that it would have been heavily Performance based

Yes an offer was most definitely tabled

Yes his Manager had competitive tention to land the best deal for his client and the fact both GC and AFC had genuine interest it forced Port to pay more than their initial offer.

The fact that Motlop met Pykey, toured our facilities and we put forward an offer does emphasise that we had a genuine interest which goes against your claims that we were not serious

I understand it was about $525k but not sure for how many years. However, it wasn't our offer that Port had to get closer to. GC offer was significantly higher but he didn't want to go up there. I also understand that Port were into him long before we were.

Are you serious? I think that's what it will be.

Gibbs and maybe a later pick for 16 and 20.

If we give up more than one solitary pick for Gibbs we need to sack our list management committee starting with Roo.
If we are prepared to give 2 picks this year why the f##k didn't we do it last year.

Giving 2 picks this year would suggest our list management committee has NFI.

Yes you hear about loaded drafts etc and they can end up just being a stock standard good draft, but from TAC cup form, analysis etc THIS YEAR is known to be a very shallow draft.

Outside of Melbourne who have been poor at drafting no one has been even contemplating trading next years first round picks.

2 years ago this was going to be a very good draft and way better than last year

Impey is ******* garbage would have been let go for nothing next year anyway.

Ah Chee has had chances and hasn’t shown enough.

Trengove left as he was best as a defender and couldn’t crack our best 22 anymore so left to go home and have a game every week.

Good teams actually turnover players that aren’t (or shouldn’t be) in their best 25.

If you traded out or let go of guys like Otten, Cheney and Milera and brought in 3 big upgrades to the best 22 would you be too worried? I think not.
Hold up

You’re putting Wayne Milera, 20-year-old Pick 11 that got a RS nom this year, in the same basket as Cheney and Otten?

Troll confirmed

TBH, after seeing Rankine's highlights, I'd rather package up as many picks in the teens + Cameron to get Brisbane's 2018 1st. The kid looks magic!

Did you see tamblings highlights?

His coach Boris Berwick said he thought he was probably going to be the best indigenous player of all time

Highlights are just highlights
