Playing at traralgon.
could've put that on straight away, craig hutchy
Maybe if you spent more time browsing the local newspapers/websites you wouldn't have to question everyone and make stupid comments all the time, workways employee.
I am hearing that they will not have a reserves side - what do you do if you don't get a game in the seniors? If you go back to a local side it has the look of a regional side but going under the Bairnsdale banner. This may alienate some supporters who would support a regional side but not a Bairnsdale side.
Anyway I hope it comes to fruition - it will be good for the league.
I doubt the GFL has a long term plan given that they are in the process of changing from being run by club delegates to a board of directors!
Really Bourkey?? Who are they going to pick up to be able to match it with the top teams??
That is a massive statement to say in October.
As I said, if they are accepted into the comp, coin won't be an issue..
They'll have the funds but they'll need to secure a big name coach/player to attract others.
A large number of the Bairnsdale district's best juniors are already playing at Maffra in the U18's and 16's so they would be used to the standard.Guys like Simon Deery, Sean Wyatt and Clay Smith ,if they don't get drafted from Power should be ready made senior players you would think .Even in the Maffra U/16 names like Devon Cooper and Nick George wouldn't be too far away either. Darcy Thorpe who played senior football at Sale as a 16 yr old is back down that way i believe so he would be targetted as well you'd reckon. As I said, if they are accepted into the comp, coin won't be an issue..

I don't know what most clubs spend in the Gippy league but the figures I'm hearing would have them rivaling some of the better Ovens & Murray/Goulburn Valley clubs.
Money isn't everything though, they need a well respected coach who will attract players.. A lot of quality Sale/Maffra players in particular will be pretty heavily targetted I reckon. (haven't heard anything to indicate that'd be the case, just a gut feel) but there will be plenty of offers made to blokes that will be too good to refuse.. great new opportunity for many of Gippsland's best footballers.
The GC17 of the GFL if you will
if bairnsdale are accepted and voted in by the other clubs, they should come in under the same rules as everyone else! for them to have the pick of a whole league and have no reserves is an absolute joke! im sure all the other clubs would love a whole league to pick there senior 21 from! im tipping they are only gunna be in it for the short term then run back to east gippsland when the novelty wears off in about 5 years time! remember they were in our league about 12 years ago and were pathetic, demographics is and always will be there biggest problem! bairnsdale to wonthaggi....no thanks!!!!
