First, the Pavlich running goal last week which was touched past the line.
Then the Jarrad Waite soccer goal which brushed his shin last night.
In the next quarter, Neagle kicked a clear goal, which they called a point.

Can all be easily fixed by utilising the replays they already have for all TV telecasts. Have a TV Umpire who can either overrule the decision, or allow coaches/captain to 'challenge' a goal umpiring decision. (like tennis - only a limited no. of incorrect challenges permitted)

Not a big issue. Usually only a couple incoerect goal line decisions per week, but this system could be pretty easily implemented and would make the game just a bit better.

The role of the TV Umpire could also be expanded to respond to non-goal line challenges or bad decision in general play. The TV Umpire would just hve to be micked up, and when the field umpire makes a bad decision, the field umpire can reverse it saying, "Overruled by TV Umpire - there was no push in that contest. I will ball it up."

Re: The Worst Umpiring Decision of all time

One day one of these Inept tools officiating our great game is going to cost a team a grand final win.

Bloody disgrace and if last night was not bad enough it is continuing.:mad:

Will be VERY interesting if this game is decided by less than a goal.

Re: The Worst Umpiring Decision of all time

That was disgraceful.

Quartermain's behaviour was even more disgraceful; he's a ****ing hysterical woman - that goal umpire has been around for ever, and sure, he's made a shocking blue, but to get into him like that and have him onscreen while he's screeching that 'he should never umpire again,' is a disgrace.

Lucky there wasn't a ground invasion.

Agreed,

Blight did well to show the normal speed replay.

Definately looked 50/50.

WHAT A JOKE!

Que KB talk back radio re:rule changes for the next week of air play.

Re: The Worst Umpiring Decision of all time

Stephen Quartermaine how dare you abuse the goal umpire like that. At full speed it looked like he could have been over the line. People make mistakes.

Quartermaine you make a mistake every single time you Step into the commentary box. You know nothing about football and have absolutely no journalistic credibility.

****ing w***er.

I thought it was just. These guys don't have a difficult job. They watch the ball go over the line or the foot go over the line, if they can't do that, they shouldn't be there. He is getting paid good money for a job that he is clearly inept at. Millions of people can do what he does. He doesn't desever to be goal umpiring

It's time for four goal umpires

Two weeks ago Brad Green clearly hit the post but it was paid a goal, last week Pavlich was denied one of the goals of the year, two goal umpire errors last night and a shocking decision denied Byrnes a goal tonight.

Two goal umpires at each end wouldn't eliminate these mistakes entirely but they sure as hell would reduce the likeliness of them occurring.

It's time.

Clearly inept for making one bad score (shocking though it may be)?

Complete and utter BS. Why not have a go at goal umpiring yourself and tell me just how easy it is to get a 100% strike rate. Especially in front of 90k screaming fans.
