Definitely wouldn’t be trading him, given the league wide lack of key defenders around. Looks to be just chipping away and learning his craft a bit more each week.

Yeah, working well just something happened to his set shots, was kicking them beautifully last year.

I want Johnston to debut. Good use of the ball, great speed. Give him taste for next season.

I just love what he does around the ball when it hits the ground. He also finds space and separation well, which I think we need. Not a bad field kick either. Just a bit more diverse than Levi. With finals done, we should trial Chol/King/Luko, since they might be our main lineup until Walters can dominate.

Could see Johnston being something if his progression continues. Budders probably gets the call up first this season, rather than him debuting though, unfortunately for him.

I agree. Just think he might get the nod in a few weeks when season is all but done to get senior games, probably before Johnston.

Speaking of which, do we need to consider managing any players that could qualify for finals (Flanders/Fiorini/Farrar) to make sure they qualify at end of VFL season? I forget what the games cut off is.

7 games max is rough, if that is the case. Means you played pretty much the whole season in the VFL and can’t play finals (especially if some of those games were as sub).

Seemed limited, just way off the pace from what I saw. Brisbane's VFL team are pretty damn good so higher level competition that what he is used too.

Baby steps but it's a good outcome for Queensland footy to know that an all QLD VFL GF will be played up here instead of the ridiculous situation that almost played out last year with two Queensland clubs playing a Grand Final in Melbourne. Hopefully next year we see them go all the way with it and rule that the highest ranked team in the VFL GF should host the game in their home state.

Would be great if our boys played the Lions 2s in a reserves QClash that also happens to be the first VFL GF played outside of Victoria. Great for the game up here.

It's a bit weird they didn't do that this year. Say it's a 1st place Gold Coast vs a 10th place Collingwood in the grand final this year, why should it be Gold Coast that flies?

As I wrote in my post, baby steps. We're coming from a long way back here in Queensland so any little win feels like a big step forward because it's so hard to pry anything footy related from Victoria. But yes, you would think the 1st placed Suns should be allowed to host a VFL GF against a team like Collingwood but evidently that's not the case this year. Assuming we finish top of the ladder and make the GF, I'd go a step further and say we should also be allowed to host a GF at our home ground in Carrara as opposed to being forced to either play the Lions on their training ground or any other team at Ikon Park.

Again. Baby steps. We'll take a home state GF should it be against the Lions.
