Finals are guaranteed!

Now we just need the Swans reserves to hold on for a win over Box Hill and we'll get a home final on the Gold Coast next week. The Swans reserves are currently leading by 24 points over Box Hill so it's looking likely that we'll get a home final next week. Also, Chris Burgess is looking likely to win the leading goal kicker award in the VFL because Fergus Greene is playing in that game against the Swans reserves and is goalless so far while Burgo is three ahead of him at this very moment.

Who comes in for finals? Constable, Fiorini, MacPherson, Mac, Sexton and more?

We should get considerably stronger.
Players must have played 12 or less AFL games this season:

Charlie Constable (1)
Alex Sexton (1)
Mac Andrew (3)
Elijah Hollands (4)
Hawego Paul Oea (4)
Sam Flanders (8)
Darcy Macpherson (9)

I thought it was actually great effort considering the line-up, academy kids everywhere, just Bowes and Tsitas in the middle.
The academy kids are a lot more solid this year.

Can rely on Brown, Foggo, Stephens etc.. to do a job. Acknowledging that a number of them are 19.

Far better than in previous NEAFL years where we had 17 year olds running around who just couldn't contribute in any way.

I like the transition to this model.

Get guys like Walter playing in the VFL next year, but otherwise pick your 19 year olds who can actually contribute.

Wouldn't mind guys like Foggo etc.. stay on as a VFL player for us beyond the 19th year.
Wonder what happened to Ferres. Hardly played after the early matches.

Some of those were medi sub technically didn’t play
Does it still go down as a game played? I know it goes towards their total AFL games played.

Sydney are up by 70 points against Box Hill in the fourth quarter so we know they're going to win. That means we're guaranteed to finish at least 6th (possibly 5th if Carlton beat Collingwood tomorrow) and will get a home final.

I wonder if we'll play our home final at Metricon, the outside stadium oval or even the Southport Sharks?

So we know we're hosting a VFL final next week but we don't know our opponents yet. If Collingwood beat Carlton tomorrow then we'll host Box Hill or Richmond. If Carlton win then we'll host Box Hill or Richmond.

If Frankston beat Richmond today then we're guaranteed to face Box Hill next week regardless of the Collingwood-Carlton game.

We now know our opponent in the home final next week. It will be Box Hill.

However, we probably want Collingwood to beat Carlton tomorrow because it means we'll face the loser of Southport and Brisbane (two teams we've recently beaten) in the second week of the finals and that game will also be in Queensland.

Yes, but a Collingwood win today pulls us down to 6th and we'll play the 7th placed Box Hill and a Carlton win keeps us in 5th and pushes Box Hill down to 8th. So either way, we're playing Box Hill at home next week but I would prefer Collingwood to win so we can finish 6th and our opponent in the second week of finals will be a fellow Queensland team. Less travel the better IMO. Plus, we've recently beaten both the Sharks and Lions reserves so I'd say we're a good chance of making the prelim if it plays out that way. In fact, an all-Queensland VFL grand final is entirely possible when you look at it.

Or we finish 5th and avoid Casey until the GF if we make it?

A draw will mean we get Richmond but that feels unlikely.

That's assuming Casey beat the Swans reserves next week and even if they do, I don't really like the sound of an away trip to Sydney to face the Swans reserves. I think staying in Queensland for the next two weeks would be our preferred route and then we can have a free swing at Casey in the prelim if we make it that far.

We have beaten Sydney in Sydney the past two VFL matches and we also as a Club are undefeated against Sydney in Sydney this season.

It's official. We have finished the VFL season in 5th position. Our highest ever finish in the VFL and the second highest in our reserves history after a 4th place NEAFL finish in 2017.

Blues just won so that looks like our likely route now. Box Hill at home, Sydney in Sydney and then either Brisbane or Southport in Queensland. Not too bad considering we've beaten all of them this season.
