Gold Coast Suns?

Its only a short trip from carlton to Collingwood.

They arrested them, we corrected them;)

Pity you both pass through Richmond though. Would probably explain the kind Vietnamese people who propped up Richmond during the 90s, as most Melbournians (except for some hardcore Tigerheads) didnt want to have their bottoms plowed by the Jailbirds from Carlton and Collingwood.(Oh shoit that sounded bad... I meant Hardcore Tigerheads who wouldnt ever let a Maybloom or 'Blue'(whatever the **** that is) get within 100metres of Punt road without a severe Captain blood to the head!)....

Oh and by 'Correct them' did you mean get them hooked on Horse?

I prefer the northern route ( so to speak) and avoid the riff raff of Richmond.

Pfft, hammer. Aint my cup of tea. Thats the Fitzroy side of Smith st.;) Only the discerning congregated on the east side of the street.

Speaking of rotten drug cultures, how is the coast these days? Still getting crumbly eccies up there? Maybe they should think about calling GC 'The Big E'

No idea to be honest. Im a wine drinker and fisherman these days. Dont even touch pot. Though worked a few places where coke was all the rage with the regulars, but I just didnt see the point anymore.

By the way, is there any other kind of drug culture than a rotten drug culture?

Depends what side of the fence you are on I guess. Old age and respectability .......... its a killer!

I think Alistair Lynch actually mentioned the "Heelers" as a nickname for GCFC. I could be wrong though. Someone did for sure though.

Right. Didn't catch that. In fact, I was always a bit disappointed that Brisbane hadn't considered it when the Bears were formed. I had a Queensland Heeler at the time and ued to love the way she attacked the footy.

A team nicknamed the Heelers could've had primarily red as their home strip and blue as their away.

Personally I think the "Guards" was better.

Every single Lifeguard or flag would have been a marketing reminder for the coast !

Then surely a great big burning ball of fire that our planet revolves around and is visible to everyone, every day by merely tilting their head slightly upwards would be a pretty good 'marketing reminder', no?

Given the amount of pensioners that go to the Gold Coast to live I believe they should have been called the Gold Coast Silly Nannies.

No matter what the gold coast end up being called, they should still go with a simple guernsey design. They don't want to have a problem like port adelaide who joined the league with a ridiculous looking jumper. Here's what i propose:

Only one name would work with the region and the name, and that is The Gold Coast Manowars.

Not only does it sound tough but the damn things can kill ya!

Also worth mentioning that mini mascots would be as simple as blowin some air into a dinger :thumbsu:

You do know that Port Adelaide were forced into that jumper by the AFL *cough* Collingwood *cough*.. we wanted to enter with the great black and white prison bar jersey. they said no. We add teal. they say no. thats how we ended up with a crap jersey.. fortunately we have a good one now.

Anyway i think that GC jersey there looks pretty good, minus the blue maybe?

If it does turn out to be the Suns (as looks to be the case), I for one am happy with the selection.

Some of the ridiculous names that were being thrown around like Marlins, Ironmen, were just tripe - all because of the apparent desire to not want to 'copy' what anyone else had done before.

It's the Gold Coast. Suns is perfect.

Gold Coast Heelers would have a 'Bluey' connotation linking it to Carlton. Shame though, I like it/

Also love the Gold Coast Snapper Heads cause I love Snapper, and Snapper Rocks is also an iconic surf break.

Perhaps if Snapper were a more fierce fish it may have been an option. 'Carn the Snappers'. I like it.

Dont mind the Suns but it does sound rather safe. Sharks were always my favorite despite the Southport connection. Even StingRays I grew to like, GC Rays. Couldve worked a treat.

We have the GC Blaze up here for BsktBall, and theyre all a bunch of w***ers. How about the Gold Coast Natalie Imbruglias?

i like the gc rays as it has a double meaning. string rays and sun rays and then you don't have to put up with another god awful sun logo!

If the Western Bulldogs are one day forced to "merge" with Gold Coast like Fitzroy had to "merge" with the the Brisbane, then at least they won't have the same problems with rewriting the words to their song like that "We are the boys from Brisbane town" abomination

Suns of the Coast
Red, white and gold
We'll come out snarling
Bulldogs had to fold
