Good:

Senior players stood up.

Think laird was bog. Think he gets unfairly treated because he's not elite and he's a senior player. He's an A grade mid when in form and today he was on.

Dawson. Aside from a couple of really poor decisions, he was getting back to his best in the midfield.

Pedlar just so high impact and fun to watch. I would get a 10 on my guernsey if I already didn't have 32.

Keays excellent through the midfield. Did the job on Neale when on him. He has a role that's for sure. Just wish he wouldn't take so many shots at goal.

Milera's best game for a long time. I don't think I've ever seen him get htb against? Probably one of the best in the comp for evasion and it's not as if he's that powerful.

Defenders collectively did really well given the amount of ball that came in and the quality of their forwards. Think they were bound to get a few, but no one dominated. Murray excellent. Butts good in the air but gee he fumbled a lot on the ground. Doedee solid on Rayner.

Worrell good first game back. Pretty clear we rate him and he'll stay in if fit.

Rachele probably best game for the year imo. Was smart with the ball, which is what I liked best. Used his evasiveness and held up until something presented. A lot more calm with the ball. That's an asset.

Rankine could have had a much better game, but it was one of his better ones still. Missed a few chances.

McHenry pretty good.

Fog good when the ball hit the ground. Going to struggle against good defences in the air so he needs to make the ground balls count.

Obrien did pretty well in the end. Started poorly but he was getting the better of O by the end and was even getting some nice taps in. Hope he keeps that up.

Jones handy in the first half.

Average:

Michallaney first game where he was beaten. Don't mean to be harsh on him and more just pointing out how amazing it is that it's the first time. Cameron probably his toughest opponent and he still did really well in some contests.

Soligo not bad, but this game typified his season for me. He's not as clever as he was last year with his ball use and decision making and seems a bit vanilla right now. He needs some more size as he gets caught quite easily when taking players on. Had really high expectations for him this year but I might have to wait until 2024 once he gets more strength and some more games under his belt.

Sloane quiet first half but really lifted in the last quarter. Having a good year and I can't see why people want him out other than they don't like senior players.

Murphy was non-existent when the conditions should have suited him.

Sholl not great. For such a good kick, he doesn't use it to cut through the middle like he should. Often holds it up or take an easy option down the line. Had a good start to the year but I'm still not sure if he makes it long term.

You won't. They'll wail about his missed goals all week.

Was very good vs Saints/Pies from memory.

His first 15 minutes had me worried but very good after that.
He never stops, never gives up.
His skills may lack on occasions, but he never gives up. When he doesn't get the ball cleanly, he is always trying to move it forward.
I dont really understand the hatred of him. I can understand the disappointment in his ball skill, but he is what he is. In our best 22 easily imho.

So you’re keeping him in defence then?
Give it a rest George ....today must have been a real disappointment to you ....at least you managed to try & find a negative ....congratulations

Suppose you also thought Nicks made a mistake having Dawson behind the ball, in the last Qtr ......or was that Dawson's call ?

Mchendry has probably taken Murphy's spot after tonight.

Rankine is elite with every touch, not just his goals. 23 possessions and 16 contested in those conditions shows that we are under utilising him in the midfield. I don't remember him attending a single CB.

Rankine and Milera in the wet were insane.

Great to see the confidence the coaches have in Pedler who looks to have increased midfiled minutes and CBs.

No thanks re Mchenry

No it didn't. Pressure and skill did.
You're wrong .....RICH had a fwd line full of smalls, and one KPF .....the chaos ball suited the fleet-footed small fwds
It didn't suit tall DEF's which most sides had, who like to see the ball coming in high, predictably

The quick smalls were then able to hold the ball in the fwd lines

It's on record in interviews .....just do some searching

Dawson been turning it over for a few weeks , more than Keays

Still a *ing gun though
You give Dawson the licence to do that, though (that is, try and pull off difficult kicks with not much time to execute)

His impact was pretty large tonight, his movement through the middle is incredibly unique, which is a huge benefit for us by itself

If Carlton came to us and tried to trade Sam Walsh for Izak Rankine and despite all our midfield issues I’d say no

Rankine wins games and he hasn’t even got started yet

Yep no complaints… his smarts , his positioning . He’s like an extra coach

His hand passes were deadly and the speed a d accuracy with which he does them. There were a couple to Rachelle that were just outrageous. So exciting the chemistry building between those two.

BRIS are a top 2 side ....they came to win, not a chance they took this game lightly
Well, Top-4 definitely. They're a different side at home, like us.
just a few areas of our game to tidy up .....big Draft / Trade period ahead this year .....more quality talent in
The first 15 minutes had me going boonta --- four kicks in a row from our D50 straight to Bris. players; fourth one caused a goal. Several handballs went to Bris. players too, but thankfully the boys settled after that and just worked, worked, worked at it.
Hinge would have been valuable tonight
Yes.
Do you think Worrell keeps his place? Might depend on if there are any injuries.

All that aside, I start a long drive tomorrow; 1,600Kms solo over 2 days and tonight's win has me in a good frame of mind for it. Plenty to savour and think about!
