The Legendary Bigfooty Good Friday footy is finally no more so here's the question worth answering now, what is the benchmark for the crowd on Friday arvo for it to continue as North v Dogs @ Etihad?

I'm going to go 45,000. Anything less and the AFL will look elsewhere when scheduling Good Friday footy.

There isn't a single Etihad annual blockbuster so here's hoping it's a huge success, raises lots of money for the appeal and the Roos and Dogs turn it into an annual sellout fixture.

I agree 45,000 minimum, last year they had over 47,000 on the Friday night game however North were flying then and i think it was a top of the table clash.

If its less than 45000 the AFL should review the teams involved. North IMO will rely on Bulldog supporters to show up and if 1 small Victorian club relys on another Victorian small club to pull in at least 30000 supporters to show up as they only expect say 15000 of own supporters to attend then they're is a problem

Second criteria needs to be that game is entertaining. 60 pt thrashing won't do it

Will the Roos also be able to rise from the dead come Sunday?
Bulldog and North supporters have been whinging for years about not having any so-called "blockbuster" fixture. Now they have.

If they don't sell it out then the AFL must give it to clubs that will.

Let's be honest, it should be a sellout or very close too.

That's what other standalone public holiday games get.

Well that's not true. Last 10 Queen's Birthday matches average about 64,000.

Should and will sellout... right?

Would love to see two games next year. North/Dogs to have the afternoon slot and give GWS the night slot against a big drawing side.

With respect to the North fans, is there an argument that it would have been a better success if it was considered a Bulldogs home game as opposed to North?

And that match should be reviewed.
Tbh, Collingwood fans couldnt give two shits about Queens Birthday. Melbourne fans are the only ones who care about it, and they never turn up. Every year the ground is majority Collingwood supporters.

Whilst I completely agree the QB is a pointless standalone game and Collingwood usually outnumber us, the crowd was absolutely majority Melbourne last year (Collingwoods poor form obviously helped).

North home game so I guess a lot rides on whether their reserved seating members all show up, along with the 'corporates' that sit on the second level.
