Good luck getting to the game from Melbourne. V/Line and VicRoads are at it again.

Trains only running between Southern Cross to Wyndham Vale, you then have to change to a bus at Wyndham Vale for the rest of the journey to Geelong.
Major delays on the West Gate all week end due to lane closures. (Just had a friend take 40 minutes to get from Kororoit Ck Rd to Millers Rd).
I know this stuff is necessary but why can't they do it on weekends when Geelong are playing interstate when it won't be as busy.

This has been been discussed at length in the preview thread

It’s annual maintenance by Vline and covers 8 days running from today through to Sunday next week - so it will be over a weekend while we’re playing interstate…

Yes this will be annoying for those who would normally catch a train from Melbourne to Geelong for matches, but it will be more annoying for those who rely on Vline for their daily commute to work who will be impacted all next week, and that will be a greater number inconvenienced than we see tomorrow

There’s also generally less people travelling from Melb to Geelong for the football compared with those who travel from Geelong to Melb - so if they waited until next weekend to start these works it would then have an impact on those attending the match against Carlton on Saturday twilight

As you said, there’s never a good time but impact on a H&A football crowd would be a low priority issue for Vline & VicRoads in terms of maintenance works
