Goodes - surely must go this time

Not according the AFL, they have stated many time that it is "front on high contact" they are trying to eliminate from the game not head high contact in general, which due to the nature of the game will never be eliminated.
The new rules clearly state you can't make contact to the head of a player when approaching from a front position no matter whether the other player contributes to this or not.
In Goodes case, when grading the contact it will be seen as light and accidental as it was not front on contact but from the side. I agree it will be a week or two due to it being high but it won't be in the same league as Murphy or Burgoyne who both came from the front.

Not trying to start an argument here, but as someone else said, tell that to Brett Burton. From memory I don't think the Caracella incident involved front-on contact, and that's what sparked the crackdown. Agree, it's a contact sport and players sometimes get hurt, but the AFL are doing their utmost to water down the physical aspect of the game. Don't rule out compulsory helmets down the track.

Pickett got 6 weeks for the same thing. Should be at least 4, but honestly 1 or 2 wouldn't shock me.
Burgoyne's contact wasn't front on, and Mitchell wasn't even really over the ball. I would challenge anyone to argue that Burgoyne's was worse in than Goodes, especially in intent.

Has anyone else been reported this rd for head high contact?
Because if i was that player and got offered weeks i would tell the MRP to get f***ed and that if Goodes got off i should aswell.
Now remember when he elbowed that port guy? he got a repremand of 70 points for that, So after all it looks like he will miss a week.
