??? If not in the frame to be drafted what’s the objective of playing VFL , particularly those who would otherwise be living in regional Vic ?
Playing the highest level you can, bettering yourself as a footballer, testing yourself against AFL players, obtaining great coaching that will help prospective coaches, creating networks, job opportunities and playing in Australia's oldest competition.

I would have thought playing VFL footy keeps some who were close to being drafted well and truly in the frame. AFL clubs are still drafting out of the VFL etc.

Under the current structure, surely a bloke in the VFL system exposed to the AFL coaching and AFL players is more likely to play AFL footy than someone out of the GVFL, or O&MFL.

To play at the highest possible level you can achieve, have new experiences, meet new people, access to different coaching and programs

Once upon time the best coaches outside the elite competition , coached in community footy as did the next teir of players .
It’d be massive boost for community football if such was to return .
I’m a supporter of the concept of
Afl seniors , reserves , 3rds and then community footy .

Thats fine Roar but I can assure you that it a great competition, allows undrafted players to play 'AFL reserves'. The level of coaching at VFL level is superior to that of local levels as all of the coaches have spent time in the AFL system. Not really sure what the issue is with VFL football now as previously the old VFA still existed.

Not knocking the standard of coaching nor the footy at that level Ringo .
I’d just like to see all those better coaches and players at local level.
I think the elite pathways are continually taking away from community footy and there isn’t much coming back in return.
Community footy was at its finest when the local regions best were playing within the local comp if not within the best comp in Australia .

Can anyone confirm Euroa may have got a couple of local boys back from katamatite in Pat Horsborough and Chris McKay? Would be a couple of handy players to add to the squad. Also heard Seymour are having a crack at Landing big Johno Moore from Nagambie kitchen sink included… rumours but thought someone on here may know

No truth at all to the Moore rumour. My mail is the Lions invited him down to train to see if he wanted to play GV footy but he reverted straight back to Nagambie after one training run. Shopped himself around to a few clubs was the other piece of mail. Will flick a message now to someone who will definitely know to confirm.

Their form over the last couple of years wouldn’t suggest they would have a huge impact at GVL level . Loved the way Horsborough played the game but his body is buggered .

I'm sure there are others and I probably have a few out of positions.
maybe cause to have a Murray vfl team, play in Shepp and Albury, I'd imagine there's a few O&m guys playing vfl too

Clubs should push talented young players to the vfl, even been in a vfl environment, they come back as a better footballer, they pass on what they learn from vfl when they get back, so it improves your club, as they pass onto the the younger guys things to add to their games. If you push them to better themselves, you usually find they come back to their home club and play

I respectfully disagree .
Pushing players to play somewhere starts at 9-10 years of age for some and for those that aren’t capable or simply don’t make these teams it sends a a terrible message and we ultimately see mass kids fall out of the game .
I personally think Mooroopna have got it right by bringing the elite coaching to their club and being a destination for players who wish to be exposed to such coaching .
IMO the idea of pushing everyone to the top at every opportunity is akin to painting the roof of a house whose foundations are shagged .

Seymour has had no contact with Jonno Moore since the previous pre season.
He has never been offered any money by Seymour.
You might have Seymour confused with Tatura.

I see there is quite a few practice matches scheduled for Saturday afternoon I reckon there will changes in starting times with the forecast believing to be around 37 🥵

Not every player is a vfl footballer, some wont enjoy it, but if a kids got a bit of talent in the gv, push them, look at Rhys went over and won a magary and got drafted. They spend 1-4 years in the vfl they come back a better product, I don't agree with tac cup, I think kids are better playing senior footy and school footy.

I'd also think it would be better having a vfl team in Bendigo, Gippsland, Ballarat and the Murray near unis, look at the side above, I'm sure they'd go close to beating Coburg, Frankston and Coburg
