A bit of news out of Rochy this morning. Adrian Pappin has been cleared by Rochy to Stanhope. Rumour being that he could not break into the senior side. Will help Stanhope after losing James

Pepsi is one very rare individual Rushy Tiger as you may well be aware....;) First he signs with lockington, then goes to Rochy then to Stanhope....

Who knows he could line up for Echuca South CC next year????

On the interleague side, looks like a fair line up to me, with the 50 year old Col Durie as captain and an absolute superstar of the competition in Chris Casey taking part, get on him for the Morrison:thumbsu:

Are you going to be OK without your boyfriend?

Well done to the Rochy players on making the side.

Re: Official GVFL Thread (part 2)

I genuinely feel for Saad as no-one should cop racial abuse. What's wrong with "chewie on your boot" and "your mother wears army boots"

But Saad lets himself down though when he responds by giving the finger just about about every goal and that incites them further.

I have watched Saad play a few times and he seems like a very quiet, reserved type of bloke who just loves his footy. If he does give the crowd a finger I can only assume it is because of a some abuse from a few idiots in the stands. Just because he gives it back to the crowd in a cheeky way after he scores a goal does not mean he should be racially vilified. The GVFL has always had a good, clean reputation on and off the field and it is a shame if this has been happening. Has anyone actually heard of players or supporters racially abusing anyone on or off the field?

i know that at rumba, in the murray league, we have not had any incidents from opposing players. last year we had a couple from supporters at a couple of different clubs in mfl and i know of 2 this year so far.

i played in the old dvfl, it was a weekly occurence on and off the field and most clubs were fairly good when we would lay a complaint. i think education of players and supporters is the key to stamping it out.

Yeah I reckon something must of set him off-perhaps a build up over the journey in the GV-verbally and physically-he is the highest profile player in the comp and I hope he settles back to good footy after all he is an excitement machine

Good to see the Seymour boys among the best players:thumbsu:
Any injuries? I tried to listen to the game but found it rather frustrating so i had to put up with listening to the Pies pump the Eagles instead:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Elliot Bowen!

Re: Official GVFL Thread (part 2)

I think Collins and O'Brien suffered some sort of injury as well, so not a good carnival for Rochy? The GV played really well, good mix of youth and experienced players, had loads of midfielders that gelled really well together. Ky boys in Newman and Vick were both very good at either ends whilst Scanlon dominated the middle in every game - his foot skills were superb!

Re: Official GVFL Thread (part 2)

Pretty sure its a quad injury
I see Rochy has gained a couple of new players in Glen Cowan from Watsonia and Bradley Crockett from Stanhope. These guys any good? Will they help Rochy 1's? And why doesnt Pappin get a game in the 1's? From memory he's always been a regular senior player and a good one at that.

Cowan is a reserves player (and barely one of those!), but Crockett played seniors about 6 years ago when he was a thirds player. Could get a game.

Pappin fell out of favour last year and hasn't gotten a go this year, which is a shame as he's a good senior players. I think he's a bit unfit.

Rochy also has Nathan O'Brien who is playing with Werribee in the VFL. He's from Lockington and supposed to be a very good midfielder. He hasn't played this year.

Former GV rep and best and fairest winner Chris McCarty is coming back from England soon and he'll slot straight back in.

Not sure if there are any others at this stage.

Rushy Tiger told me it had something to do with the circumference of his behind.....

Cheers. Rochy is looking good in the seniors then - good to see a small town doing well. Hopefully Tatura can do the same in the next couple years. Pappin has always been a bit burly even when he was playing seniors, plus his form in the 2's was pretty good. Stanhope should be licking their lips they got him - should be getting a bit of $$$ from them as well.
