Grand Final ballot (er...?)

To anyone thats guranteed GF tickets + registering this week..

Wondering who's planning on choosing Option 1 or 2.

I also had to do it last year but do not remember being advised to choose the Option with Standing Room.

I remember last year being advised Not to.

Any advice on this??

There will be NO ‘over the counter’ ticket sales for the 2011 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

Does this mean, unless you are a captains/social club member or higher, or have been a member for 10 years or more consecutively, and THEN win a ticket in the ballot, you will not be able to get a ticket at all? Or... do they release other tickets later? I doubt I'll be able to get my hands on one, but just wondering whether or not I even have a chance? Like once the prelims are over, does ticketek release any tickets to non-members. (Or general admin members like myself).

Correct. Unless you get a ticket in the ballot then you are shit out of luck.

General admin members have zero chance of getting one.

I'm a social club member, anyone know how many priority 2 members there are? And how many tickets we will have access to after the priority one members take their share?

Its also important how many priority 2 members apply.

Last year about 5500 priority 2 members applied for 4000 seats. Assume this year there are a lot more priority 2 members but there are 7000 seats this year for priority 2 members, so odds might be better might be worse.

Thanks for this Dunnno4. I feel a lot better now. My only thought is whether we should go in the ballot as a group of 4 or try our chances individually. Based on last year this means that one of us will miss out!

If you go for one lot of 4 and miss out everyone missed out! 2 lots of 2 would be smarter. 4 times 1 seat has the best odds but you won't be together.

do i have a chance in hell with a silver afl membership with club support?

its my first year as an afl member, i seem to recall that last year silver afl members with collingwood club support were classified as 'priority 3' in the ballot?

I'm a 12 year member. I wasn't expecting to get a ticket to the GF last year as I'm just an 18 game season member, however I fell into Priority 3 and got one.

The system they have right now is very fair I reckon :thumbsu:

legends capped at 9000 this year. i am not sure whether that also includes the club 5 members who are basically legends members who have paid 5 years in advance from what i understand? but with around 26,000 tickets to split between the competing club members this year there will be around 4,000 tickets for the ballot for priority 2 members. no guarantee of a premium seat for legends, but virtually certain to be premium or prime

Not necessarily, no guarantee of the type. I have been Legends for 10 years and got standard both times last year, didn't really bother me and wouldn't have cared if I got standing, just wanted to be there.

Collingwood don't enter Silver AFL Members with club support (they did last year for the replay) , you don't go into the ballot. They recommend you do the Legends Upgrade.

Assume the clubs GF allocation is 13,000 tickets.

9000 Ledgends members (includes club 5 as they are just legends paid for 5 years) guaranteed ticket + life members (not sure how many 50 years plus members there are) That leaves about 4000 tickets or slightly less for 62,000 members, of which only capitans and social can enter the ballot !!

So even if you wanted to upgrade your membership, there are NO more legends tickets available. You have to join the waiting list.

It's football 2011 and the future. Many Collingwood supporters have to live with the fact they will never see a live GF !!

Sucks but after the GF in 2010 we all knew this would happen, luckily some people got in just in time. For the rest, big screen tv with the mates and cold beer is going to have to do. OR if you are patient and can live with listening to it on the radio instead of tv, just wait outside the ground as as the opposition leave the ground you can get their tickets to get in the ground

where did you sit ? all of the legends members i know got premium or prime as long as they registered at the specified time. there was however 1 bay M33, that was classified as standard seating on level 1 of the ponsford. that's the bay with the cheer squad at the front. i heard that some legends members were in there but didn't actually know of any

the replay was a different system and you could simply buy tickets on the monday morning online as per the usual finals ticket arrangements, if you were a legends and bought on the monday morning you would only have got standard if that was what you chose on the ticketek system

Pie Eyed and Stui summed it up

I upgraded my membership to legends (off reserved seat last year), so im guaranteed a GF ticket. It's sad that it has to be like this but it's the competition we support

I bought two Legends Memberships... Read up on it well in advance. Reserving my two seats to the GF at 8am tomorrow! :)

We've got premium (ground level) all 4 times (if you count the replay) of course, 2002 & 2003 we lined up - and the replay wasn't a ballot.

We have a group of seven, not sure of this hurts our chances in regard to where we sit or not! Of course, the pies need to make it first. Go pies

Yay! Registered for my Grand Finals tickets.

Have 6 Legends memberships in the house, and it's this time of the year that makes it all worth while (spending the extra on membership). Registered for all 6, but will only be using 4...Mrs says I should sell the others...but I'd be that guy caught/fined etc.

Over to you Pies...let's go back to back!

We're registered so if we win next next the missius and I are off to another Collingwood GF. That's 5 for her and 11 for me.
