So will Hodge and Mitchell both be playing?

Personally I think a Centre Line and Ruck division made up of Sandilands, Mundy, Crowley, Neal, Hill/ Pearce (Wings) still looks pretty good to me.

I think they'll both miss. Agree you're still very strong through the middle, especially with Sandilands providing first use.

Surely Sylvia comes in?

If McPharlin plays on Gunston he will barely touch the ball.

I'm a believer with Freo that their most important player is McPharlin - best KPD in the league by a margin.

He is quick, agile, strong and reads the ball beautifully. Also has very tidy skills

Geez, not seen Harry Taylor play?

I can't see McPharlin on Gunston in my opinion. I would think he'd be more suited on Roughead, while someone like Johnson would be an ideal match-up for Gunston and Silvagni would take Hale and or McEvoy.

I agree, but surely he will play on Roughie considering that Dawson is out
If Silvagni comes in he will probably play on Roughead, if only because Gunston is slightly more athletic and agile.

I wouldn't play him myself as there are others players in waiting that have better WAFL form behind him. Sylvia does know the MCG well but I don't form warrants an inclusion just yet.

Still think we are way too light down back and you guys will win.

I don't celebrate injuries (suspensions I do) but I most say I'm a lot more hopeful since the Barlow announcement.

Aside from Pavlich, the Dockers don't usually have a tall forward line. Our short back line could actually work on a ground like the MCG this week. It's going to be raining on Friday night.

Hope I'm wrong but this is shaping up as mirror image of our game vs Geelong at Skilled last year. Starting to abandon the prospects of a good game and just hope we don't get embarrassed again.

Our midfield won't be on par with Geelong's back then and I thought you were missing Lurch then? Don't stress too much, it'll be a 50/50 game, not a blowout.

that's very brave of you

I rate Fremantle's youngsters a lot higher than Hawthorn's and that's because they have had more game time at the top level.
Hawthorn's newbies are raw, they will get slaughtered against a well drilled defensive unit like Fremantle's.

See that wasn't so hard. Should have been what you said to start with instead of looking like a complete clown

Not really. Quite true actually.
McPharlin generally pants' the opposition best forward. Regularly!

The only thing I saw wrong with it was the better kick part, Harry T has a much better and longer kick on him.

I thought our GF side had comfortably the better midfield on paper and Mitchell was tagged completely out of it, you still had the advantage.

Just think if Mundy has a quiet game we're boned as there's nobody else to carry the workload. We'll be relying on Neale in his first full game this year and guys like DPearce, Mzungu, De boer and Suban to win the bulk of the contested footy. Not forgetting Sandilands is a considerably lesser player when he doesn't have quality mids at his feet (will be facing better rucks this time too with the acquisition of McEvoy), take into account our ramshackle forwardline which would struggle even with good supply and it's no surprise I'm a little worried.

I realise nobody rates Dawson either but if Silvagni doesn't come in, Johnson needing to play as a second tall hurts our defensive structures too.

I find Harry's accuracy is ok - but his depth on his kicks is poor - quite often half volleying or overshooting the intended target. As a shot for goal - depth doesn't matter, but coming off half back it does matter.

Luke might kick within his limits - but he hits targets more regularly IMO

Difference was no Pavlich, Sandilands, Mundy, Barlow as well as many others. Hawthorn are also depleted in their midfield/HBF with Hodge, Stratton, Lake and Schoenmakers out.

I think it will still be a tight game. The inclusions for Freo will have quite a lot of AFL experience - in youngsters and our mature depth - and this is their opportunity to make statements - we have a lot of very capable depth pushing for the 22. Hawks don't really have that much experience in their depth, in comparison. Lachie and Ibbo will almost definitely be back in the team.

Ross' structures and the way we play also mean the outs don't have quite the effect on the team that they would have for most other teams. Though 2 of our best beast mid's (Fyfe and Barlow) will cause us problems, particularly as we really needed another 3-4 weeks before Mora and Sylvia are fully ready, though Lachie coming in will be very handy. Selection table will be very interesting for Freo this week - do they rush someone in slightly early to the mid as well as Lachie.

Freo's structures don't hold up as well as you think. Their record doesn't hold up too good when missing two of their big 3 mids, which you are on Friday. Last time was an 8 goal loss to Geelong. When you rested senior players towards the end of last year you got beaten by Saints. If your structures had of held up you would have definitely beaten the Saints who were terrible all year.

Plus yes Sylvia has AFL experience, but he is from Melbourne who have absolutely no structure. Your in's haven't played AFL all year. Hawthorns 'ins' and already in and are playing there 3rd games for the year
