I disagree with that. Even in 05/06, the Eagles weren’t as good as the 07/08 Cats. We were just smashing sides into oblivion most weeks, and I don’t think anyone around that era could match how we played in the 2007 GF.

We're also forgetting Port was the only team to beat Geelong in the last 4 months of that '07 season. Port were terrible in that GF but I don't think anyone would've gotten within 50 points of the Cats that day. It was ruthless.

Collingwood and Geelong had an interesting history round that time.

Even during the cats 15 win run in 2007, Pies fell a couple of goals short at the G, then the prelim classic and Collingwood’s 2008 mauling of Geelong’s only H&A loss by 86 points was just brutal.

Collingwood was one team Geelong actually feared during that era.

As a tigers fan I loved 17 and 19 but man after watching today and a couple of the hawks GFs against WCE and Sydney there has been a lot of grand finals at the G in the last decade that have been blow outs with the game over at QTR or half time.

Today was so boring as a neutral and I completely understand now why people complained in 19.

We got treated to a great finals series though. I do feel sorry for interstate sides occasionally your going to get the WCE result of 18 but more often than not these games are over before it even starts. Mind you Geelong today at any venue would have beaten Sydney regardless.

Lol I knew this would come up as I was sitting there in the third quarter. Not only did they lose to the two grand finalists in the early finals, they went 0-4 against the two grand finalists this season. It's easy in hindsight, but people were expecting a classic going in.
