Wouldn't necessarily say they need a QB just yet, and to suggest that you shouldn't re-sign a player that is pretty good at what they do because they need a wide-out is odd.

The team sucks but this isn't it.
My point was more that they made it their first priority, when other needs are abundant.

Uhh well he's a free agent at the end of this season and you lock him up now, there's not a lot on the street as far as WR help that would really be that beneficial to this team. Besides (although I'm not sure about it in this case) an extension for a player can often free up cap room for that year.

I'm now more annoyed we traded out Douglas. One of the few players who's been playing well and giving a s**t on field.

Yeah this baffles me a bit to be honest.

I have no problems if we're going to sell, but to sell Rasul is odd. The guy has been our best corner this year by far, we're now very thin there. And to not sell someone else or even two after that is so weird.

Just not sure what it does for the culture of the team to trade away a guy that honestly seems like the complete leader of the team. There were reports of players on both the offense and defense after this weeks game conversing with him at his locker about what they need to do set this straight etc. Just weird!

Smith, Nixon or Campbell would have been better to trade I think.

Not really sure what the thinking is with trading Douglas either... definitely a shock.

Far from the worst in what should be an elite defense.

On the plus side, at lease it was a decent pick, and the net gain given we picked him up off the street. Makes me wonder what the Bears were wanting for Johnson given he wanted out and the Bills were clearly looking to buy.

All I can think of with the trade is because of his age he won't be around when the rebuild is coming together.

But how will it mess with the locker room taking out the leader? Like he was holding players only meetings post game on the weekend before having a shower. That's how much he cared.Just wish a few others cared as much.

Happy he is on a contender. But his leadership will be missed.

Doubt there was a market for players like Nixon.
Doubt Smith was ever going to be moved, Campbell I could of seen put up. Might not of had any real offers.

Also on the Gary deal. It has the smell of a deal that's been done for a few weeks and they wanted to wait till victory Monday. But got sick of waiting or couldn't see a win any time soon.

As for QB Love is under contract for another year the plan would of always been to give him 2 years. He has some issues but the drops and play calls are not helping. There is barely a bright spot on O right now. The OL is a horror show, skill positions are so young that Aaron Jones is the only one not on a rookie deal. Injuries and drops everywhere.

Hey don't get too down, you aren't the Raiders.

Ive seen enough growth from Love that i would be willing to give him a Geno Smith like 3yr/$75m contract

Yeah, that's a nice middle-ground I think, good for both sides.

He's made some beautiful throws, so the raw talent is there, and we'd be crazy to not persist to see how far he can take us. But at the same time can't over-commit, which is where the shit franchises get themselves into trouble. The trouble arises if he wants more security and $$$.

I'm just as excited for these weapons on offense though. Probably haven't had potential like this since Nelson/Jennings/Jones/Cobb Finley. Reed, Wicks and Musgrave are really starting to look the part. Even Krafts run down the sideline yesterday showed we may have a double-threat at TE. Its been almost 30 years since I've seen that in a Packers offense.

He is under contract for next year still. but i feel the Geno Smith deal will the the base for a new deal and if he keeps making the improvements then it could be a great price for the team.

Reed needs more plays. dude is a stud.
Watson still plays too small for his size and its like he doesnt like contact. so many plays he gives up on rather than trying for a contested catch or draw PI.

Even though defense came up well today. Happy to hear Barry’s time sounds like it’s finally up. We’ve let some mediocre guys look like Tom Brady!

And regardless of what happens next week. definitely happy with how this has turned out regarding love and his progression. Wouldn’t mind if Watson can stay on the park (feels like next season is pivotal in trying to overcome these hammy issues). Excited to see the offense evolve

Another talking point is what’s going on behind the scenes with jaire? Is it just being sick of the defensive scheme? He’s another that’s been a letdown this year and feels like there’s more to it all regardless of the injury

Alexander will be back next season unless between now and the draft it becomes nuclear and the Packers feel they can't repair the situation.

You confident with that more so that Barry’s going to be gone? Seems to be that jaire isn’t happy with how he is played in Barry’s defence

Barry is gone. And Alexander's too good to give up on right now, and since he has been injured the last couple of years along with the contract we would have to trade him for peanuts.

Easier to forgive and forget start over with a new DC. If things don't get better he could be moved around the deadline.

I think with a new DC Jaire will be fine. He's always been a different unit and probably between a terrible DC and lingering shoulder issues keeping him out the frustration has bubbled over.
The locker room didnt seem to turn on him or really go on with the story. and have forgiven him.

I see it as the team had no choice but to suspend him for thinking he is more important than the team. Hopefully it was a one off.
