Green v Jones Jnr

Looks like Choc had a tough night. :D

I think it looks more like he feels bad for RJJ, rather than jealous of Green winning.

That's how I feel about the fight, it's sad to think that some of those Australians who know little about boxing will remember RJJ in this light.

Also, why do I always hear about Mundine fighting nobodies when Green does the exact same thing?

Astonishing

Re: Green vs. Jones Jnr

I was quite suprised that Green beat Jones Jnr, let alone in the first round. Still, it's great for the profile of the sport in Australia.

I'd definitely like to see Green vs. Mundine II. If they met again, I'd hope Mundine could pull off another victory against Green (because I'm a big fan of 'The Man'), but it could go either way.

Yep. Good to see somebody point this out. Both these blokes have fought few contenders and a lot of cab-drivers. The main difference is Danny appeals to the Australian public and Mundine is controversial and Australia seems to dislike him for it. They both have made significant amounts of money from the fight game but.

It's very sad that the average Aussie that knows little about boxing is going to remember the great Roy Jones Jr as the Roy we saw last night. At his best he was superman in the ring and could not be touched.

yeah just by watching his highlight videos on youtube(like this one) , you can see he was truly awesome and real champion of boxing, and i think it was great from green to show his respect for him when the fight was finished.

Your being quite kind to Mundine calling him 'controversial'. Mundine is a disgrace to the planet, never mind Australian boxing.

I thought Calzaghe would get belted by Green, if they ever fought. I watched him beat up Jones, and thought, Danny can knock this RJJ out. He did!

Calzaghe can out box Danny, but he won't knock Green out. Calzaghe doesn't have fear inspiring power.

If Calzaghe fought Danny, he may win on points, if he weren't knocked out first.
Calzaghe doesn't have the power in his punch to stop Danny from moving forward. Danny would walk through his punches dismissively, and then unleash.

your really underating a guy who never lost to go with the fact 32 of his 46 fights ended in KO.

That fight was a crock.

I thought it was good after seeing the highlights, but Jones looks punch drunk.

This sport is more crooked than horse racing.

That's the look they usually get after being stunned like that....

And yes, boxing is the most crooked sport in the world - only when it comes down to the judges scorecards. Who knows what you're talking about....

I agree.Green does have the superior power but thats where it ends.Calzaghe has the speed, defence and the ringcraft which would blunt Greens power.Calzaghe hurts fighters when he connects dont worry about that and the ones that hurt the most are the ones you dont see coming. The amount of punches Calzaghe would land on Green particularly to the body by about round 8 or 9 it would set up a KO without the awsome punching power most think you need to achieve a KO.My earlier post of Calzaghe having Green snoozing by round 3 was a bit foolish but after witnessing that farce first hand last night it makes a joke of the sport and the legend Jones is.Green is a world class fighter and credit to him but Calzaghe another class again.Joe has nothing to prove his career says that but lets hope for his sake and Dannys he stays retired like all great champions should.

No, I definitely do not under rate Calzaghe. He's a better boxer than Green.
I just don't rate Calzaghe's ability to hold off a guy by means of his punching power.

Re: Green vs. Jones Jnr

Serious question - how exactly is Mundine 'a disgrace to the planet'?
Saying that America brought September 11 on to themselves is a pretty good start.
Just a really shit average person all around

Re: Green vs. Jones Jnr

At first looks for anyone who doesnt see much boxing but see the highlights they will think RJJ took a dive as the punch that knocked him out didnt look that good.

But if it was a setup there is no way RJJ would just stand there an take that awesome barrage of punches from green, he would make it look like hes trying to throw punches.

The punch must of just hit that sweet spot and RJJ was still dazed an then the assault from Greenwas too much to handle.
Although if the fight was in america they might of let the fight continue to end of round an that may have given RJJ a chance to regroup.

And green def doesnt appeal to the majority of the australian public, he is far too bogan and in with the wrong crowd.
They just like him more than Mundine because mundine is all talk an will say whatever he can to get the most attention.

I've watched it numerous times and in slow mo and it looks very very dodgy indeed. I won't be surprised to see some media query particularly in the US.

With a shit average head thats full of Islamic shit.

Alternately, I see Mundine as a commited family man and devout Muslim who does a lot for the Indigenous community and sets a great example away from the ring for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

If you're judging Mundine solely on public persona as 'The Man', then you're not getting the whole picture of who he is. And if you're simply showing prejudice against him because of his race or religion, then you're clearly quite ignorant and bigoted.

What about scheduling a press conference for the 11th of the 11th at 11am and saying he doesn't care about remembrance day? This was last year. Shows how much he respects our war heroes.
