One of the great servents of the club, gave his all, huge heart, courage and determination. Did some massive jobs for us on the field and a tireless worker off it as well.

All the best Licca

Now the important thing is to offer him the position of "Inaugural Collingwood VFL Captain"...

I would LOVE to see that happen.

Couldn't agree more. Like Bloben and many of us I have been hoping he would retire knowing I'd be sad to lose him when he does. Who better to teach and lead the up and comers. We know he has a couple great years service at VFL level and he loves the club good way to keep him involved.

great story of courage and determination. Came back from 2 knee reco's to be a two time Copeland Trophy winner. has been a great clubman of the footy club. was fanatactic for us in our grand final years 2002/03. Would love to see him continue to play in the VFL comp next year.
Well done on a great career Licca.

A good source has told me that Licca was approached by Frankston a few weeks ago and captian them for some good money next year.

Anyone know where Collingwood Reserves plan to play home games?

Disappointed on the decision as he said last week in the mX that he was planning on playing on next year and having another crack at getting back in senior team. I am confused.

No doubt he was nudged along.

The coaching staff would have hinted to him he was going to be very hard pressed to get a spot and would probably only be hurting himself trying his ass off all year to get into a team that didnt really need him.

I've got no doubt he still wanted to try, but theres just to many ahead of him these days

Congratulations on a wonderful career Licca.

From personal experience I can say you're a wonderful bloke, your contribution to the club has been simply enormous and I have a great deal of respect for the way you conduct yourself on and off the field. The work you do for TAC patients is fantastic and I know what a difference it makes to those guys.

As a player, your leadership has been immensely valuable, and on a personal note your 40-possession game in the final at AAMI stadium was one of the most inspiring performances I've seen in the sporting arena.

Hopefully the club can offer you a position, either as VFL captain or in coaching/mentoring, that will maintain your connection to the Magpies for years to come and allow us to continue to benefit from your experience and professionalism.

Well done Licca. :thumbsu:

A true clubman

Hats off to you Licca. All the best.

I do hope that the decision is in your best interest.

Whatever you choose to do I hope its a success:thumbsu:

Absolute champion Licca.
Please give him the job as captain for the vfl side next year...

Couldn't agree more. That QF at AAMI in 2002 was 1 of the best performances by an individual, in a big game, I can remember for our club. I will always remember him for that game.

Would be the ideal candidate for the VFL captain if he wants it.

Well done on a sensational career Licca. It's sad you couldn't bow out of the game under better circumstances, but all things being equal no one can (or will) forget a 2 time Copeland trophy winner with a heart bigger than Phar Lap's.

All the best for the future. :thumbsu:

HI Guys,

Annoucned on SEN this morning just after 9am, Paul Licuria has called it a day and hung up the boots.

Very sad, i liked him.

thoughts?

Maybe even more room in the salary cap for Judd??

Never got a go at the Swans with Kelly and his gang in the midfield, but was a great pick up for the Pies. Well done Lica...

Well done Licca. Sign him up for our reserves side now.

Good career, glad he recognised it was time to call it a day.

We only need to delist 3 or 4 players now.
