Welcome Gumbies one and all to the 30th season of Sweet FA. After the disappointment of season 29 the only way for us is up and up we shall go on our quest for sweet Sweet glory.

I will be captain again this season and I am joined in the leadership group by beez, GWS Goose and newly minted Gumbies FFC Wall of Fame member, StFly.

At the time of writing, we have two players joining us this season in cats2rise and Tiger God. cats2rise returns to us after 250 games at the Mount Buller Demons. Over the course of his Sweet FA journey he’s won three club best & fairest awards, four leading club goalkicking awards, and four best clubman awards and has the Demons’ goalkicking award named after him. Tiger God is better known as season 28 EKA Medal winner, AuntyBlindEye, and joins the Gumbies after a short hiatus following 26 games with the Las Vegas Bears. Please make cats2rise and Tiger God welcome. I'm sure they'll both fit in very well here.

The Big Footy Tour of Qooty is underway with Sweet FA visiting Carlton this week and Collingwood next week. Hopefully we snag a poster or two from those games to join us. I’m also working on a couple of other new faces outside of the Tour and will hopefully confirm those in the coming days.

The Fighting Furies have invited us to be involved with the Tittybong Cup this preseason against the Bears, Dragons, Furies, Swamprats and Wonders to be held over 24-26 July, which will see us bounce into Round 1 with match threads opening Monday 27 July.

Here’s to a successful and enjoyable season by the Gumbies.
