We broke the streak

After losing 3 in a row and dropping to second on the ladder we needed to bounce back this week and get back in form for finals. beez also had a massive milestone of 400 games so there was a lot at stake for the game.

The first quarter was fairly even with us kicking 3 goals to the Demons 2. The second quarter was where we made our move, dominating the scoreboard by kicking 8 goals and restricting them to only 5. Up by 20 points at half-time we were still wary of our second half fades so we made sure to not go into our shells.

The third quarter showed some worrying signs with the Demons kicking 4 goals to our 3 and they looked to be making a comeback. But we stood up in the fourth quarter and piled on 6 goals to 4 to put the game beyond doubt. Winning our 10th game for the season and back on top of the SFA ladder.

A better week than the previous match thread. Finals start in about 2 weeks so hopefully we will see more people turn up for our chance to try at a premiership.​

Fighting Furies? I prefer loving furies

Getting back into form at the perfect time, we arrived at the Hippodrome looking to maintain our spot on top of the ladder.

We jumped out of the blocks early in the first quarter kicking 5 goals to their 2, building a solid lead off the back of Barrybran who is still an outside chance of winning the FRED. After an even second quarter we went into half time 22 points up, but we remained focused as we didn't want another second half fade to occur.

We pushed further ahead in the third quarter by kicking 6 goals and keeping the Furies to only one goal as our defenders find form again. A good final quarter saw us win big by 57 points and maintain half a game lead on top of the ladder.

• It was another rainy game so all of our stats are well down from what they should be. Bad weather has screwed us this season.
• Riviat scored a DT ton with 28 disposals and a goal in what was a big day out
• I replicated some of my rookie season class off half forward with 17 disposals and 9 marks. Still need to work on my kicking.
• Barrybran kicked 5 goals to keep his slim FRED hopes alive

We need to win or at least draw against Roys to keep top spot on the ladder.​

POSTING STATS

A bit of a nothing match thread last week. Not anyones fault really, just the reverse fixture becoming boring. Final home and away game this week against the Roys. After that it's finals time.​

A lesson before finals

Just as we were starting to get into some good form for our finals push, the Roys thought we could use some learnings from the final round of the season.

Win and we finish on top, that was the plan, but we never really looked like winning it this week. Roys jumped out of the blocks with 6 goals in the first quarter to lead by 22 points. Their accuracy being the main point of difference with only one behind for their team. The second quarter was where we decided to rest up for next week as they went on to score 8 goals and we only kicked 3.

We fought back a little in the third quarter so our percentage wouldn't look too bad, but the game was well and truly over with Roys going on to win by 39 points. Their goal-kicking was insane with 19 goals and only 3 behinds, whereas we kicked 11 goals and 12 behinds, making accuracy the difference in the end.

• Barrybran tried his best to overcome the massive goal deficit in the FRED medal, but in a huge loss the ball was barely going in our forward 50 so there wasn't much opportunity to go around. Still managed to get 4 goals. (8th in league for Goals scored this season)
• Brick Loosener was our highest DT scorer on the day with 26 disposals and 8 marks. Brick has had a tremendous season and will be hopeful to get an All-SFA spot with his impressive stats (12th in the league for DT points and 7th for EXIE points, 8th for marks, 4th for handballs, 5th for total disposals)
• Rodney Dangerfield was hard done by this game, moved straight to the back pocket and didn't get a single hitout. Despite this coaching debacle he still managed to finish 6th in the league for total hitouts this season.
• GWS Goose was also shafted to a back pocket this game, utterly bewildering everyone (the coach will be sacked if he does this again in the finals). But Goose has had another great season at ruck rover, finishing 3rd in the league for total kicks, 10th in the league for tackles, 4th in the league for frees for and finishing 8th in the league for DT points scored.

I would like to think this was all my doing but I only played a small part in this renewal of this great club. Thank you to everyone who helped make this season a great one.
