Thought it was one of his better games tonight. Some nice taps and not as many mistakes.

I think he needs to be more aware of his limitations though.

A decent effort in the ruck however he's just f'n hopeless around the ground

He was ok around the ground. Just as effective as Seaby, and better than Fraser he was pretty poor tonight IMO.
Richards was one of our best.

Your kidding right, frase may not have done much but at least he can hit a target and take a grab

I didn't notice him much and unlike other players, with Guy that is a good thing.

To be honest i thought he played pretty bad, he seemed to soft at the ball where on a number of occasions he would just stay back as if he was scared. Even though josh wasnt at his best, you could notice that when he was in the ruck, we were doing alot better than when Richards was

Richards rucked well, but showed the same deficiencies around the ground. He is not a kid anymore. If he wants to play for Collingwood he needs to work harder, he will get a game though (at the moment) because Bryan is not up to it.

In saying that, Fraser was just as bad.

Fraser was obviously not 100%.

And just on Bryan based on his showing with Willy he is up for it!

Richards played well.
Not every ruckman is going to be as valuable as Brendan Lade or Cox.

That was the most centre square clearances i've seen us win in a few years.

Yeh given my thread I started last week, it kills me to say... Richards wasn't all that bad. He did ruck well, but yeh his around the ground skills were still non-existent. Definitely wasn't our worst.
Kudos Richards, keep proving me wrong... please.

I also reckon Richards was bad. Not at the hitouts, but he's a liability everywhere else. So weak at everything.

Josh, whilst in poor nick due to knee op and lack of pre-season, can still perform around the ground.

If Bryan is not suspended, then I reckon he should come in this week.

No. Peter Street got the better of Bryan in the centre square.

Why would you drop Richards? He played better than last week, and Malthouse seems to rate him.

I don't know about dropping Richards for him but Bryan had a huge impact in the first half. Street had minimal impact. Bryan would of at least had 5 clearences himself.

Good point about Richmond's lack of ruckmen. If Richards dominates them and has a good game it could be a confidence booster even though in reality he beat no one.

Seaby's no superstar either. The reality is most clubs struggle for good rucks, especially if theri number one goes down. We dont need Richards to be a Dean Cox, although it would be nice - we just need him to be competitive.

I would have thought Troy Simmonds would be due back this week. But in saying that he hasn't played for about 6 weeks and may come back through the VFL.

Richards will play and he will get better. He needs more game time. Bryan is more of a ready made Ruckman, but his upside is small compared to Richards who still has the problematic potential tag over his head. Hold off on the big goof until after round 4 then rip into him if hes still terrible. Remember McKee...man did that guy play some horrid games for us.

I spent the first quarter bagging him because he was woeful in the first quater. I then spent the next 3 quarters taking it back. I thought we clearly won the ruck. Fraser also had some pretty good hitouts but after the first quater I hardly noticed him around the ground. He went of after about 10 minutes and seemed to have some work so I can only assume he was not quite right.

I agree... Bryan was good. He was great around the clearances... has a big strong body.
