AFL admits it was an error but the result will stand- as a result Adelaide are out of the finals, and Sydney are ahead of us.

Not much can be done after the fact. You just cannot overturn a game result when there was another 90 seconds or so played on from that event.

But a hugely bitter taste in the mouths of the Adelaide players and fans, and anyone else impacted by the domino effect of that result.

The crazy thing is that all goals are reviewed (like Chook's almost goal yesterday), but points are only randomly reviewed.
This will lead to a lot more calls for reviews - for better or worse.

Wow- Eagles win!! Ha ha!! We are 8th and a game clear of Bulldogs and Essendon with just one more round left. Sydney and St Kilda are now in the finals, with the final spot to be decided between us, Bulldogs and Essendon.

Win (or draw) against Carlton and we are in the finals.

Lose against Carlton and we are still through as long as the Bulldogs don’t beat Geelong (in Geelong). Essendon have to beat Collingwood by more than 100+ points to overtake us (as well as we losing to Carlton by about 100 points).

What a fantastic result!

That's a massive boilover! Eagles have probably cost themselves the #1 draft pick (and possibly #2 as well!). But that helps us massively. We still want to defeat Carlton - our future is back entirely in our hands, but that gives us a little extra wiggle room.

And could cost Doggies a finals place. Suck it Doggies!

Was sure the umps would manufacture a number of 'suspect' frees to get the Bulldogs home.

So we know what we want Geelong to do next week.

Beat the Bulldogs and the Giants v Carlton result is irrelevant (Essendon's percentage puts them out of contention and they're playing Collingwood anyway).

What was looking like the tightest fight for finals spots in years now looks all but settled with only 2 matches next week with any potential impact on the final 8. Could be settled before our game if Geelong beat the Dogs.

Absolutely sucks that a pi$$ poor goal umpiring decision in a Sydney Adelaide game is going to cost us finals.

we should be 2 points ahead of Sydney on the ladder, not 2 points behind.

With WCE beating the dogs, it looks like you guys are likely in and after that garbage non goal last night, i am glad it didn't end up costing you guys finals too

Ok so that wraps up 4th for the Demons and Carlton literally can’t make a difference to their ladder position.
Anyone think they’ll rest some stars?

Swans and Saints lose and we win we could get as high as 6th.

It's hard to believe, but we're almost locked into finals at this point.

If Geelong beat Bulldogs (looking likely at the moment) then none of the other results even matter, we'll still finish 8th even with a loss to Carlton.
