I know I'm jumping the gun a bit, but after seeing GWS absolutely demolish the Swans - the best team in the comp - I think they are flag favourites, personally. This is just one game, but forget lack of finals experience, they are the real deal, and they seem there to also just have fun, from now on they've got nothing to lose. The Swans were actually trying their heart out, the pressure was intense, but the Giants just busted it right open.

Geelong didn't play their best, and even though Hawthorn played one of their best games all year, they couldn't beat them, even if it went right to the line. The Crows thrashed North, but that says nothing, nobody seriously thought the Roos were a chance. The winner of the Swans vs Crows match will be pretty battered, and I expect Geelong will probably beat them in the Prelim. If GWS play the way they did today, I expect them to absolutely smash the winner of Hawks vs Dogs. I haven't seen such aggressive, attacking, exciting football in a final for awhile. As we know the Swans still like to play defensive football creating a lot of stoppages, but the Giants' style of play just busted that wide open. GWS will do what Hawthorn did but much better, finding space and run behind the defensive line, with more speed, getting it in very quick on the rebound.

Sportsbet has them as slightly behind Geelong to win the flag, but I expect a Geelong vs GWS final, which actually could be quite interesting. The Cat's fans reaction to Stevie J should be worth it alone. Many the fears about the juggernaut the AFL has created are justified...

:eek:Oh dear
At least I could be confident none of our supporters on BF would have posted this.

Will we win the flag? Like everyone else the answer is I dont know. Am I loving the journey? Bloody oath I am, every minute of it.
6 clubs left and they all.have chances in my view. The winner will be the that siezes the moment ( add other cliches as appropriate).
Edit: Should other clubs be scared? I really hope so, our guys are frighteningly good.

If it wasn't for the Swans being battered I'd still rather play against them than Sydney tbh.

Even if they pipped us we'd still do a better job of shutting down their running game than the pretty poor job the Swans did.

Imagine the party going on in three houses in Penrith if they do win it though!

Can someone help me out. Did GWS supporters follow another team before GWS came along or did they not like football before that?
Here's a thread with some people's stories:

https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/your-giants-story-how-you-came-to-be-a-gws-afl-fan.921729/

Me personally I was a casual fan who was just getting into the game right before GWS entered the league, and since I was living in Western Sydney at the time it was perfect timing to pick them as my team.

A GWS vs Geelong gf would be epic, I said at the start of the year how Cats fans would bleed if Stevie J was the difference on the day and either kicked 5 and helped GWS win by 5+ goals ORRRR if he kicked the goal that won GWS the game in the last minute :).
well this finals series has turned to crap. My dream grand final of hawks vs North is down the toilet.

You'll be waiting for the NAB Cup to see Stevie J run out against the Catters - that flog won't play again this year.

There is absolutely zero chance Stevie J gets suspended this finals series. While he has those GWS colours on, he might as well be invisible to the MRP. Could go out there with a hatchet and cop someone's arms off, and the worst he'd get would be a fine. If you're a player who's had some problems with suspensions in the past, head over to an expansion side, and you'll find things get a whole lot more lenient.
