Anybody who bought anything the other night could go into a draw to win (I don't know how many) match worn guernseys. We'd left by the time the draws had started so I wasn't there to hear my name called out.

They had a box with maybe 10-20 of them, they called out a winner randomly from a plastic box (mostly just the top ones were picked so if you were a late shopper on the night your chances were really good) and then you had to a chance to select whoever you wanted at the front of the stage as they spread them out the best they could across the stage to go through. There was about 4-5 people who weren't present so those people got a random one from whichever ones were leftovers.

It was heartbreaking to watch but if anyone got the Cogs one let me know :)

I did win an Inaugural Guernsey signed by Sheedy and the co Captainsin a box limited to 50 pieces so that was something at least.

Given the types of items on sale I am half suspicious that we're getting a new sponsor next year. (i.e. dropping Virgin Airlines, or they're dropping us).

I can't imagine Virgin will be dropping the Giants after the season you have had. Dave Matthews recently said you have a full sponsorship book...

Last time there was this type of major discount sale it was because we changed from ISC to BLK - maybe it's not a sponsor change but a garment manufacturer change.

I think you'll find it's just standard the end of season BLK discounts as per all other pro teams they supply.

Pressure these days to deliver new designs each year, rather than due to changes in sponsor. However, you'd expect to see Toyo Tires join Virgin on the 2017 gear too given they're both now co-major sponsors.

Reports out that BLK are going bust

Affects six AFL clubs with BLK deals, but I think it'll have a more significant impact at local level. BLK is the naming rights sponsor of the Sydney AFL league and supply a lot of uniforms/apparel in Sydney and I daresay nationwide. With the timing it might not be a disaster in terms of order fulfilment, but it leaves a big hole assuming they go under.

Thanks for the further info.

Its a kick in the guts to the local scene it seems.
Hopefully something can get done.

A SPORTSWEAR company signed by St Kilda a week ago has gone into receivership.

Apparel supplier BLK, which has deals with six AFL clubs, has officially informed the AFL it has gone into receivership, jeopardising all merchandise and sponsorship agreements.

An extract from the ASIC database reveals World Rugby Specialists, the parent company of BLK Sports, has been placed under external administration.

The AFL confirmed to the Herald Sun it was gaining more information. St Kilda has also been informed of the development.

“The AFL is aware that BLK has gone into receivership,” an AFL spokesman said.

“Our commercial/licensing departments are in the process of gathering as much information as they can from the receivers to understand the implications for those clubs in the competition that have a relationship with the company for 2017.

“We have six clubs that will be affected in some form.”

BLK has deals with Adelaide, Brisbane Lions, Richmond, Gold Coast, GWS Giants and St Kilda.

The clubs are still working through the ramifications, with BLK supplying playing and training gear as well as cash sponsorships.

At least one club contacted by the Herald Sun is rapidly searching for a new sponsor to replace BLK.

The news is a particular blow to the Saints, who proudly announced their BLK deal on November 9.
The Saints released a statement on Wednesday, saying they were working with the company to ensure it received its orders.

“The club has been working closely with BLK to better ensure no immediate interruption to supply for the team and is confident fans will not face any delays or cancellations due to the news,” the statement said.

“The Saints will continue to work with the receivers and the AFL to ensure the club obtains all the apparel and merchandise it has ordered in the short-term.”

Under the three-year contract the company would have provided on and off-field apparel for players and officials plus supporter merchandise.

“We are delighted to have BLK on board as the Saints’ official sporting apparel partner in 2017 and beyond,” St Kilda chief commercial officer Christine Finnigan said last week.

“The quality sports apparel BLK produces will play an important role in helping our team to achieve their best performance on the field and training track.”

BLK also has agreements with a bevvy of local sporting clubs.

The Saints are taking pre-orders on their website for BLK guernseys for 2017.

Tassie too, I read.

You'd think adding a whole new client in St Kilda would have staved off the receivers, but how bad is the timing for the Saints?
As I understand it it's a parent company issue and not BLK itself, so they didn't dive, their parent company did
