With all the recent talk of potato SCALLOPPPPPSSSS!!!! I knew temptation was going to strike me sooner or later.

And it hit yesterday, after a good workout at the gym.

I'd heard my local takeaway did a pretty good one so I said "I'll just buy two, that can't hurt surely."

Turned out the minimum order was four.

I told myself I'd just eat the two and show some real discipline.

When the order came, it contained five.

I ate them all.

This is how coronary artery disease starts.

But they were good.
Some things are just worth it SBD and a good POTATO SCALLOP certainly is!

What do we achieve by playing Hickey?
Hopefully stop getting smashed in the clearances like we did last week. If we concede that many inside 50s against GWS we won't win. Especially with Rampe out. We absolutely have to tighten up in that area and having a serviceable ruckman will help. Not necessarily sure that Hickey is the answer but I know McLean isn't either.

We got smashed in the clearances by the Dogs as well.

However still won.

Clearances aren't the be all and end all to scoring.
Ask any Richmond side.
Advancing the ball. Pressure. Turnovers .

HMac is good at neutralising big rucks around the ground and winning the odd clearance.

Personally I think MacAndrew is a good medium term prospect at ruck contests because he is honing his skills at palming the ball and at smacking it 20 metres forward to win us advantage.

I wouldn't be against him getting another crack.

They do at the home of the team we all support!
What doesn't exist here is potato cakes!
Potato Cakes and a pickled Onion….that’s a Melbourne highlight.

True, but there's only so far that a good defence and good ball movement can make up for it and we've been cutting it very fine for a while now.
Every side "cuts it fine" in modern football. IMO.

I just think the era of the dominant ruck is disappearing.

You need a Ruck that can do a multitude of things.

Thats why Briggs has been so good for GWS.
He's great in tackles. Kicking for goal. Score involements.

I'm not sure Hickey going up against him will curtail any of these attributes.

From Luke:
Ollie Florent was on Toby Greene last game - likely Robbie Fox or Harry Cunningham
Hickey in - McLean goes forward

How early do we put an extra around the stoppage or defence when we're under the pump? is it something straight away once GWS get a sniff of momentum or do we wait it out?

Our fwd 50 entries need to be spot on otherwise Sam Taylor will have a field day. Oddly a benefit of Buddy not playing is we should see a variety in fwd 50 targets rather than being buddy centric. It might actually help this week, as Taylor could be forced to second guess himself in which contests to impact. This is all on the proviso we just don't bomb it long to the same pack/spot & our forwards spread away from each other.

No can't agree, no rivalry from my perspective. If we can't cause a stir in finals, I'd love the orange boys to do it.
Yeah I'm the same.
I'd rather see a team from NSW advance the sport .
Western Sydney is a fertile oyster.
Its talent, yet to be fully scalloped.
Grown from minnows.
It would be shellfish to not acknowledge their rise this year.
I seriously trout anyone thought they'd be any good this year.

I do still feel like giving the team to Canberra/ACT would have made more sense, but agree with the above sentiments.

Sydney are my main team and I closely follow the two Queensland teams. Outside of that, GWS and Freo would probably be the only teams that I don't dislike.

Hope Roberts comes in. Even if he's gassed by 3QT he'll fit right in with the rest of the team.
Why make the problem worse?

I get that Roberts was more impressive early than say Stephens or Warner were overall, but given none of them are going to be given big midfield minutes, you'd want someone who can run the game out.

If we think Roberts can do about 30% of CBAs, have an impact, and be serviceable as a small forward the rest of the game, then sure.
