The big man has had his knockers over the years, plenty of whom have been regulars on this board.

But Q was outstanding against the Saints in a game we needed to win. Along with his 3 goals in the 06 GF, tonight was probably his best and most important performance.

He's unfashionable and can look clumsy at times, but I reckon Q is the real deal. He kept us in it when we looked shot early on and his work-rate never dropped.

What I like most about Q is that he's not flaky. His commitment is absolute. There are days when he might not get amongst the goals, but I think he's developed into a wonderful player for us. Have you ever seen Lynch give an effort that was remotely half-hearted? I've got a lot of time for Q.

Compare his output to a top 5 pick in McDougall, or even someone like Staker, who seems to need to play only a handful of good games each season to keep the supporters satisfied.

Q is going to hold down FF for the next 6-7 years, and is a real chance to retire as our all-time leading goal-kicker. He's only going to get better.

And it's not as though he's just a one-dimensional gorilla who is only comfortable sitting in the goal square. For a unit of his dimensions, he's exceptional at ground level, and he sits alongside Hurn as having the best F50 delivery in our side.

Hail the Qolossus - let's hope the purple patch lasts another month and many years beyond.

Yep, he's very good at ground level.

It reminds me of last year, not to influential in the first half of the season but getting right into the goals in the second half.

He's a great option up forward and when he pushes up onto the wing I'm confident he can bang it deep into the forward fifty, or hit a target on the chest.

Have never bagged him, and is one of the most important players out there for us.

Good post Gunny. Always been a massive Lynch fan, good to see his fine form continue. Was superb tonight. :thumbsu:
I just reckon he cops a lot of unfair criticism.

He's a conspicuous player, and when he has a bad one, everyone notices.

More than anything else, I think that reflects how important he has become for us in a relatively short space of time. People are searching for evidence that Lynch can never be a Riewoldt or a Pavlich. And he won't be the equal of those guys. But he's ours - nobody bags Hunter for not being Chad Cornes.

Someone like Staker might be more talented and more versatile, but who delivers when it's on the line?

Can we start calling him The Qolossus?

Yep, he cops a lot of riddiculous criticism after one average game.
But then when he kicks a bag everyone hails him like he is the messiah..

Of coarse he won't be a Riewoldt or a Pavlich he hasn't got the silky skills that they have, but he has a nack of bobbing up when it counts and kicking bags, whether they be strong marks our great crumbing at ground level.

I agree he is our Riewoldt/Pav along with Hansen, the go to men.

Great OP Gunnar. Absolutely spot on.

Kept us in the game early and kicked a couple of important goals late to help seal the deal.

If he can kick accurately consistently like he did tonight then he his capable of kicking 70 - 80 goals a season.

Never stops trying.

Has once again begun standing up at the right end of the season.

I posted earlier in the year (around round 12 or 13) that in terms of his numbers, everything was up on last year.

In fact, even if you took his average for the last 11 or 12 games in 2006 (from the game against Hawthorn i think were he kicked 6 or 7 half way through till the GF) his numbers were still better for the first 12 or so games in 2007... he just wasn't kicking goals. He still had more shots on goal per game i'm pretty sure, just kickign way too many behinds.

In the last month or so he's started kicking straight again and we are seeing what a dangerous player he is.

Really? Wouldn't have guessed :p
heheh.

Qolossus is a new one, I like it.
Thank god he is finally getting his confidence and getting over his yips.. took most season but he can make it all up to us by ripping up the finals again!

Bloody oath, whats his accuracy been like in the last 2 games? Every time he goes for a big shot from 50 out, I used to cringe (even though its his specialty). But now he looks confident and relaxed. Slots them through with ease.

Brilliant Big Q!! You might make Mr Brown look average in a few years. But lets keep a lid on it till then :)

Don't forget wall and his Q-Stick...

He has now played 47 games straight since being dropped for the Prelim/Grand Final in 2005 after playing the first 23 games that year.

At thei point last year he 45 goals after 21 rounds currently he is on 48.

he was on 49 goals

kicked 4 against the tigers & then another 12 in the finals to finish with 65

Big Q kicked a LOT better than Reiwoldt last night !

Tim Watson made an interesting comment. He said he is probably better at ground level than he is marking overhead. I think there is a lot of truth to that and its probably what makes him such an under-rated player by opposition fans. Can rack up big stats even when he doesn't take a lot of marks. And when he does take some marks he can break a game open - like he did last night.
