Got to love the implication in that article that he only wants to come here because his brother is here, his partner is from here and he went to school here. The rest of the article is all about Collingwood and what else they can get. So a team that is in the finals series isn't of interest to players as opposed to a team that didn't make the finals? Gotta love Vic media.

He's had a down year this year -- I think his weakness is poor decisionmaking at times and he's less calm under pressure than some of the other Giants defenders, which is probably why he hasn't cracked the AFL side much this year. When he's playing as rebound defender he's been solid, though. Trying to imagine how he'd link up with Smithers or Brown for run off half back.

so i know nothing of this guy. considered a good thing?

yes, been playing very well in the NEAFL as the GWS team is a bit hard to break into in the positions he plays. He is a 186 cm, 88 kg running defender / possible wingman. Lovely outside run and really nice kicking skills.

Eh. It was only yesterday they were saying we were only an outside chance at best at getting him.

Wingman/Forward here I reckon, played forward all his junior career....

Also, from agent page:

"Curtly has been in the sights of many AFL recruiters since the age of just 14 when he represented Northern Territory in the 2008 Under 16 National Carnival. Showing exceptional skill, poise, agility, and explosive speed, combined with leadership and decision making beyond his years, it was not a matter of how much Curtly could improve, but when AFL clubs could recruit him.

Unfortunately for the 16 current AFL clubs they will never see Curtly running around in their colours as the new Greater Western Sydney team swooped and signed him under their NSW & NT zone concessions, which allows them exclusive access to talent living in these regions. Upon signing his contract which will see him at GWS till the end of the 2013 season, coach Kevin Sheedy revealed he was a massive supporter of Curtly and rated him as one of the best young talents in the country. Many footballer followers say Curtly may be the best player to come out of NT, which is a huge compliment considering the ilk of talent which has already blessed the VFL/AFL from NT. "
