Tell you one thing that would leave me enraged , if he dragged dusty out of punt rd < 300 games , I’d fully support withdrawing his life membership if that came to pass

Agree.

I've said it for a while - I love Dimma for what he did for the club. He changed everything for us. But i am not 100% sure i trust him from 2020 on.

Dude cheated on his wife with a younger work colleague in the hub, made a lot of people lie/cover for it ..... you can't trust a guy fully that does that and not be surprised when he gives you a lil bite on the hand on the way out.

Dimma is just a man, unfortunately. Did great stuff for this club, but has done other shit too and will do more - most likely for someone else.

Can you link the quotes from the people who lied and covered for him, please?

Doubt it would happen but let’s just say it does
Would you be wanting Dusty’s life membership withdrawn as well?

He would be the one who makes that decision
Can’t get shitty at clubs offering great players deals to come across it’s just the nature of the competition

He’s on a great deal ~1.3mn I believe

No doubt but IF Dusty leaves (don’t think he would)

You said you would be happy with Dimma’s life membership being revoked

Surely you would want Dusty’s revoked as well because it’s literally his decision if he leaves or not

What? You reckon if it has a link and its on the internet - it must be "more true". I can send you 10 billion links to news stories i know are false that have "links".

Just what i been told. The hub was up in Gold Coast - i knew people in it. I heard stuff, keep hearing stuff.

And it's pretty obvious. He was with another woman while in a work hub. People knew what was going on and didn't tell her. That's as good as lying. It was covered up before it was open. For that to happen, they needed help. Have you ever worked in an office where 2 people are ****ing who really should be? It's very very obvious.

No affair/divorce is clean when there is another person involved. Its all dirty and messy. But it happens to humans. A Lot. Doesn't make him a evil guy - but it certainly makes him a different one to the chap who coached up in 2017

COVID changed a lot of people. Mostly for the worse ( I am NOT talking vaccinnes here). He is not unique. It unfortunately had that affect on a lot of us.

No offence to the gold coast fans, it's the AFLs fault. But there's nothing good about gold coast. s**t name, s**t logo, s**t jumper and in a state where no-one cares. Dusty or Dimma should not be going there

It is the worst marketing and club i have seen created in the entire world over the past 40 years

Seriously a team called themselves the Pelicans and its cool as shit compared to the orange corporate logo "Suns". Its ****ing awful.

Why they didn;t go with the Sharks and tie it with Southport was beyond me. Or even named them "The Pirates" - Something you can market to Gold Coast locals & kids. The logo looks like its for "Sports Tonight" or something.

The fact he is going to the Suns makes it really weird the way he has continued to smile and wink, and comment about us non stop on his socials. Some see it as endearing, i kinda saw it as fake and clickbait shit. Just keeping himself relevant and keeping things "light" - which obviously favours his narrative a fair bit considering they are about to sack a coach in favour of him etc.

I get it - Dimma is the king of "breaking clean" apparently - but if he is going to the Suns, then time to stop all this posturing bullshit and time for us both to get on with it. Dimma broke contract to take on another job. If he is gonna work for the Suns or even plans to iinterview for it - the Richmond romance shit is OVER. Our players and staff cut ties. We do not need our intel or staff being poached by him and that is a very real risk now.

Personally, i don't care he quit. I thought his contract was a massive problem & i thought his magic richmond dust had expired & he had lost the younger group. I thought we needed a new voice & his had lost some merit. I felt like the group didn;t believe him anymore and the young group kinda saw through his "cool dad" shit. Him breaking contract from my perspective was a win/win, without knowing all the details of course. I think the results ince and the improvement especially in the kids also does suggest they respond better to Mini than Dimma.

It does however piss me off that he encouraged the club to trade 2 years of picks for 2 players that he effectively thought would keep our window open - yet he quit on in 6 weeks. I see a real problem between his support of trading our future VS how quickly he walked away to take on another job - that is really poor for me.

The personal stuff is only a part of it, because it is a part of it unfortunately. Lots of coaches have been divorced during a tenure. But as this one played out in a work hub, with staff involved & players and their families commenting publicly and quite clearly hurt - due to the tight family culture Dimma created at the club - it unfortunately did become a "Club issue".

Tldr. Post the links with the quotes.

I'm with you as they're life members for their achievements and they can't be taken away from them. IT'S like withdrawing Hafey's LM for coaching 3 other clubs. It's all irrelevant and in the end it's Martin's decision here as he has a contract. You can lead a horse to water , but can you get it to drink?

Yup
Granted I would hate to see Dusty in a different clubs colours but I wouldn’t hold it against him either

We won the flags off the trade and free agency system so we can’t get dirty just because we lose players because of the same system

Likewise I wouldn’t get upset if Dimma got in Dusty or any other of our players ear and managed to get them to follow him

In fact I would think it would be a stupid decision if he didn’t try

It’s just the way the system is for better or worse

Or proof she was in the hub.

That actually was widely reported. Thats how it happened. She was there. A lot of people knew and helped keep it from Danielle. And people wonder why the culture died AFTER our greatest victory, the 2020 GF. It was a weird time for everyone.

The Herald Sun received a statement from the club on Monday after rumours were running wild in the footy community about the long-time coach.

“The club is aware that coach Damien Hardwick is currently in a relationship with a member of the club’s administration staff,” the statement read. “The club has no concerns with this under club policy. Beyond this, it is a private matter and we ask that privacy be respected.”

But the Herald Sun reported it has “rocked staff within the club and could affect the playing group”.

The Age reported that Richmond confirmed that Hardwick had to have the relationship approved by the club’s human resources for him to continue as coach of the club.

The reported also stated that sources said Hardwick’s new partner had joined him in the AFL hub at the end of the season and was in the bubble when the Tigers won the premiership.

fwiw, i wouldn't be stripping any life memberships either - but i would be very unimpressed and it would certainly take some of the glitter off both, especially Dimma's, time at the club

Its all good and well to move on, but unless he is doing a really shitty Al Pacino impersonation at the end of "Any given Sunday" - don't go raiding our cupboards on the way out. If you value what you built at all - then you should understand why it would be distasteful.

Hmmm.
Dew got the sack this morning, and not only is Dimma going to be the new coach (I thought he wanted a break?), but Dusty will be joining him too!

Ease up Tigers. ****ing ease up you lot!

Edit - my prediction is he will be Fremantle coach in 2025.

Don't give a stuff if Hardwick goes to the Suns, nor do I care if Dusty followed him. Neither of them owe us a thing for what they helped deliver to the club and us supporters.

Anything that happened outside of what happened on the field/in the coaches box has no personal impact on me either.

Sure it was a shock to see his marriage fall apart, and it sucks when any marriage fails FWIW. He still delivered another flag, while all that happened.

Unfortunately like all good things it came to an end, when the team and Hardwick hit the wall mid 2021, after being on top for 4 years. Not many teams have eras that last more than 3 seasons, but we did and after a rough 18 months we tried to get things back on track by going after Taranto & Hopper, but it didn't click the way Hardwick hoped and he walked. Thanks Dimma, enjoy the challenge that is the Gold Coast if that's where you end up, down here I believe we'll be fine and will be back in contention sooner than many think.

Be clear. He walked 6 weeks after encouraging the club to sign on 2 new players to a combined near $10,000,000 / 14 year deal & trade away 2 years of our draft picks.

People really REALLY skim over that part - we paid these 2 players TOP DOLLAR. Tippy Top dollar. Not just at the trade table, but in their salary contracts as well. 2 x 7 year deals is mental - who ****ing does that?

He was that confident that these 2 were the difference that he was "all in" enough to tick off & ENCOURAGE all of that. Then 6 weeks into the season, quit to go to the Suns.

If he owes us nothing, then i think after this we owe him nothing more either. The relationship is effectively over until we have some 10-20 year reunions of GF teams & "some" supporters still expecting "All Supporters" to think the sun shines out of his arse - well, those days are well and truely over as well.

He has tainted his own tiger brand now, not the supporters. The "unconditional love" era is well and truely OVER

Hardwick walked after round 10 when it was clear that what he was trying wasn't working in getting the club back to being a genuine premiership contender.

He along with the club made the decision to go after Taranto & Hopper and that decision was the right one for the long term future of the club.

He hasn't tainted anything as far as his legacy with Richmond is concerned. He came to the club at our lowest, rebuilt the list and the culture, and delivered 3 premierships. He could have walked end of 2021, but kept trying to get the club back to the top. Had he stayed and ran the club into the ground and completely screwed our future like other coaches have done when their eras ended it may be a different story.
