Judd's the only high-profile Vic player to leave. Would he have stayed if the drug crisis hadn't arisen? Who knows.

Rumours are he only left because of Bec's career ambitions in Melbourne, he actually wanted to stay.

Gehrig was basically chased out of WA, as his performances prior to being traded were pretty woeful(as was the team's).

Hindsight tells us it was stupid on WCE's part but he was played as a wing/flanker, not the FF beast he ended up becoming.

For your last point, I'd say it's mostly irrelevant. Vic clubs can chase if they want, if a player wants to stay, they will. If they want to leave, they will.

History suggests that WCE WA players end up staying in Vic for the entirety of their careers and most stay in WA after they retire, especially the ones from country Vic.
Didn't Gehrig get caught shagging Watermans missus and thats why he left!

HMMMMMM

Jay Clark and Ralph have both said he's apparently happy to extend his contract into a 4th year already but no rush obviously.

I'm sure all Vic clubs will make some kind of play but this fixation over his contract is weird, when to my knowledge, none of the other draftees with a 3-year contract from last year have extended yet either.
I'm sorry but if he was happy to extend, he would be extended!! WCE couldnt get that contract in front of him to sign quick enough.

That would make me even more nervous as West Coast fan

Those two have a collective hit rate of <30%

How many have documented contract offers in front of them?
Who said he had a contract offer?

Pyke said they're talking through things with his manager but are happy to wait until next year.

Also, how dumb would a first year player be to sign a contract this early when they still have another 2 years?

Just more cope from Vic media. Stop getting so easily baited.

Everyone gets so triggered by Harley, yet everyone is desperate to get him to go back to Vic.

Next step is for him to sign the contract, rumours about trades come up and people argue he is rubbish and only worth 2 x 3rd rounders. This is the way.

Sheezel's initial contract was 2 years though.

Last draft, all the top 20 got a 3 year contract, hence nobody extending yet.

But for some reason, people are obsessing over Harley not signing yet, despite nobody else signing either.

He is indeed box office but this type of thread is complete rubbish unless he's still unsigned going into his last year, otherwise we may as well have one for all top 20 draftees every year.

How many others are interstate, went pick one, started the way he has and apparently said he’s happy to extend?

How many went pick 2, from another state and has a team coming to his own state where he'll likely be the marquee player and hasn't extended yet?

Plenty of others to discuss.

Mate, not trying to argue, I was only replying to the “he is happy to sign an extension” comment. If he was at my club and he was “happy to sign an extension” then I’d be pissed at the club for not already signing him to it!

Pyke already said they hadn't discussed terms because they wanted to give him time and not pressure him, because they want him to concentrate on his footy in his first year and he has 2 more.

Obviously they'd sign him in a heartbeat if he went directly to them and demanded an extension but both parties are apparently happy to wait.

Supposedly hes happy to sign a 1 year extension.

The only leverage the club has in this is the pay rise in his 3rd year if he resigns before then, no other club can offer this unless he wants a trade while contracted, which the club naturally still has the power.

If we can leave that pay rise dangling, and let him enjoy his footy before worrying too much about it, we might get more than a 1 year extension first up

The most damning stat last week was that reid was the only one out of wc's top 10 players to be younger than 20.

The rest were all around 30 if not higher.

Well that's an unsurprising stat, considering we only had 2 players under 20 in that match.

What an utterly stupid point to attempt to make.

Still mad your club went for McKercher/Duursma combo instead of trading up for Reid?

Reid?

I'd rather win a round 23 dead rubber match against The Gold Coast suns in Tasmania

Stuff like that breeds winning...
