You do realise if you match and force a trade Crows aren't paying a 1st rounder for him based on his output from the past two years.

Go ask some Swans fans how they feel about trading out of contract players to the Crows.

Essendon has the cap space to match a ridiculous contract and Adelaide won’t be able to walk him to the pre season draft if Essendon are worse than they are (possible)

if that’s the situation Adelaide paying overs to get the player they want and having it not cost them draft picks makes a lot of sense given the current system even if it is a massively stupid system.

If Essendon manage their typical mid table finish they probably just keep draper. He’s decent and they’d be better off keeping him and upgrading at other spots
