If you want to be critical of our development and recruiting, give it a few years so the kids we recruited 2016-18 can... you know... develop.

The poster above comparing the McKays and saying the difference is due to your great development program is way off the mark. Its as stupid as saying Ben Cunnington (pick 5) is much better than Kane Lucas (pick 12) because of our superior development.

I would want to see results before celebrating recruitment and development.

Regarding Lucas/Cunnington yes all clubs have bad selections but when the last 5 years is looked at as an time frame it must be the quality of your recruiting and development staff that needs to be questioned. You are also trying to compare 2018 where carlton were developing kids whilst north were not.

Clearly they are better at development with players like Curnow,Cripps,McKay,Fisher,Dow,SPS all showing more than North recruits
Dow is doing better than LDU and Harry better than Ben

Ironic that the player that North are screaming out for at the moment is a contested marking forward who can take pressure off BB.

Has Ben been trialled forward at all? I seem to remember he was in the same mould as Ben King (albeit not as good) in his u18 year as a KPD who could also play very competently as a forward.

We played 5 players with 100 or more games to their names. You played 13.

The side that you fielded today is as good as it's going to get. They are all seasoned campaigners.

We had 14 players with 50 or less games, to your 6. We had 11 x 18-21 year olds, to your 4. You had 16 players with over 50 games under their belts (and 13 of them had 100 or more) to our 8 (with 5 having 100 or more).

And it showed. We were outmuscled, physically bullied, shrugged off and outran.

Using it to highlight 'Norths superior development of kids' is messed up.

If we had lists of comparable age and time in the system and you flogged us, we could talk.

Carlton have historically been shit at development. Heck; even in our glory years we were famous for buying players from elsewhere.

Its a spurious argument. I wouldnt even engage with it personally.

I see Norths problems as being a bit deeper than development. I dont see any up and coming (or current) players of 'Star' quality on the list, aside from maybe Brown.

I get that the decision was made to go out and buy them (Gaff, Kelly, Martin etc). I can see the logic, but Im not sure it was the right plan.
