The feels

anyone that ever gives shit to a club for pushing a player back to play should be made to watch this.

What might have been. Still crook in the guts over this one.

Sure we got HT. But whoa the cost…

Go Catters

Do we know it was the club pushing or Mat Egan pulling ? Still hurts though. A great player, and big part of our resurgence in 07.
Not forgotten.

Little of column A, little of column B.
Following what was happening and reading/listening to those involved talk about it, it sounds like first Egan was very keen to push to get back for the Grand Final but an error with trying orthodontics in his boot (which were too hard) from the Drs caused him to reinjure it.
Up until that point he was running ok and looked set to return, although in reality I don't think he ever would have.
In hindsight the correct decision would have been put Egan on ice until 2008 but neither player nor club could foresee what was going to happen or even if the Cats would win another flag after 2007.
It's just a shitty situation really, he would have been a bloody good player, although IMO no better or worse than Harry anyway, so as a club we did ok from it.

What was the rumour in trade week.... Freo R1 plus Weller... yes under some circumstance I might have done that... but Rance. Whats he done.
Would I trade Taylor for Rance..no. Ive seen Taylor in big games..sure can be a little wobbly at the start some times but he is a big game player. When Rance takes last line marks , or kickout marks in the last 30 seconds of a GF to lock the game , I'll start putting them on the same shelve.
Rance and Rich look made for each other....happy trails.

Rance is an absolute star right at this moment, he wins two on ones regularly, wins hardballs, puts his body on the line - he is such an attacking player. Taylor has the reputation and the runs, but you could see how dangerous Rance was this year.

Out Richmond, the two players that always catch my eye, because they make things happen are Deledio and Rance.

Taylor wil get back to his best, now that they will have a stronger midfield and a consistent back six.

they are also the 2 that Richmond can't win without.

Their record without Deledio is staggeringly poor, and yearly last year when Rance was out they were absolutely awful as well

"There's always plenty of hype about the Coleman Medal.
But what about the reverse Coleman?
We don't often see stats about how many goals key defenders concede, which can often make it a little tricky to determine the best of the best.
But AFL statisticians Champion Data has released this season's tally, after some pestering from Sydney veteran Ted Richards".

Harry was very unlucky to miss out on all Australian squad this year. Rance has been very good and deserves his spot. Interesting that Harry said he learnt a lot playing forward on Rance a few weeks ago.
Lonergan has also had an underrated season and I think he wants to go again next year. Hopefully they and Hendo can have a big finals series.

Hopefully Hendo is back for the finals series.

Rance is one of the most overrated players of our generation.

Not saying he isn't a good defender but being mentioned in the same breath recently as Scarlett and some of the other all time greats... Seriously.

The fact that Rance isn't even on that list speaks volumes about how useful the data is.
I don't agree. It is what it is.

But it would be nice to have a list of who the opponents were so we could subjectively adjust for strength of opponents. I still think Harry would be high up.

Based on the last few times I've seen Rance play (not just this year) I would agree completely. To me he's clearly the best defender since Scarlett.

He's being spoken about as possibly the best ever.
