I reckon we won the rookie draft. :);)

I went and had a refresh look at the VicM V Vic C game … we have 4players in that game …3 in VicM which is unusual. KMF … looks dangerous when he can swing on his left … but he looks a stereotypical one sided lefty. The other three guys will show a bit in the VFL I think but will take some time .

Constable and Stevens are ordinary to good footballers at best, our first pick Jay Polkinghorne is anything but a ordinary footballer. I'm glad the club doesn't follow your far to simplistic findings, as get me a guy that has natural football talents, which this kid has in bucket fulls. With his only one likely downfall outside a major injury being his unpreparedness to do all the hard things that is takes to become a AFL footballer which generally comes from having a poor attitude, otherwise there is so much to like with Jay.

We can review Davidson v Polkinghorne in 5 years time. It's all opinions.

11 wins lol
I’ll even give you 9
They won't even win 5.

Depends where they play all these young rucks

I think you will find Conway will either be on the 1s or injured.
Stanley will be filling in the 1s or resting because of an old body (cellar stuff).
Realistically one of the main rucks will lead the vfl ruck (probably pike) and guys like Edwards and molier will probably play FF and CHF in the 2s.

No knock or making comparisons with Davidson, more to do with why we shouldn't have picked Polkinghorne, the reasoning was to simplistic from my view-point but yeah, it's still my opinion vs yours regarding that matter, so it does come back to 'it's all opinions', so you got me on that one!

The pace of the VFL…one would think you could play both of them forward without much of an issue. Can we sneak Polk and KMF in as well? We will find a way around it..

Did anyone else get the impression that the Dogs gained satisfaction from taking a couple of players we’d likely have wanted in Jaques and Davidson? There appeared to be a smug expression on Sam Power’s face after both those picks. That he’d stolen “our” player.

Yes.

The only thing I got from this draft is that nobody had any idea who we were interested in. If they reached for those guys just to spite us great cause I reckon there's a 90% chance we were never taking them.

Surely not. That would be petty and childlike ..and portray themselves as a minnow minded club.

then again…. maybe they like them..and it was topping on the icecream o think they gave it to us...

… but to some degree ..IF we really wanted Jaques then they best hope he is happy there. As OHenry showed … being drafted up the road is no indication that you are welded to a unedifying experience, let alone bolted on. Id say Jaques now joins Hastie as a Falcon at another club and someone we will monitor. He may well be happy there.. so good luck to him.

Hasties job of getting games in the Stk backline just got a little harder with this draft. Thinking on it..no wonder why they did not take Hoff..

I dont follow the state and under 18 football closely enough to have a view on the guys the Cats have chosen. I liked that they were all described as versatile and good runners. As always, speed still kills in the AFL.

The number of talls is interesting. i would describe them as fowards rather than ruckmen, and I think that was the view with Edwards last year. If they don't pan out as forwards plan B would mobile rucks like Rhys.

At this stage I doubt any will debut in 2025.

Good luck to all of them.

Not about people here but i do love all the talk about who won the draft and who lost from idiots considering we won't know for probably 3 years but most likely 5 years who won and lost.

I mean, tbh, there's an argument to be made that we've won last year's draft already. Mannagh and Humphries as Best 23 already + O'Sullivan and Edwards as KPP's with massive upside, and Wiltshire who I'm big on.

Be hard pressed to beat that haul at this point in time.
