With Waitey going down with what looks certain to be a season ending knee, this opens the door for Adam Hartlett to come in and prove that he can play senior footy.

Apparently he has been killing it in the ants at CHB, though we'd probably need to use him more up in the forward line, he was recruited and touted as a potential CHF.

It looks like if he gets through todays game with the bullants he'll get a decent go in the 1s due to Waiteys injury.

I'm sorry but Hartlett is just not cut out for AFL level ...
Apart from his injuries, has shown very little signs when he's out there for the seniors of being a league player, for one thing, his kicking skills are woeful.

I don't think we can afford 'taking' a risk by bringing back a player who has basically done SFA during the 8 games he has played or so over 5 years at the club.

They are?

Thought his booming kicks was one of his best assets...

god C.P do you actually watch football!
hartletts kicking skills are his major assets, and by saying that it is obvious you have no idea, just stop posting on these boards, you are a waste of space and make our boards look less informed and less intellegent every time you post!

Would have thought Austin has taken Waites backline spot...

Maybe try him up forward one last time?

I have to agree Hartlett should be playing, having seen a bit of him playing for the bullants. He definately has the skills and decision making to have a real chance of making it, if he can avoid injury. Though rattern seems to think its neccessary to rotate players through the team, which evidently is becoming very frustrating.
Surely half way through the season you know who your best 22 is?
Which I hope Hartlett can be part of

Yeah whatever, if that makes you feel better at night ...

I stand by my comments 100 percent, Hartlett has been on the list long enough, and if he actually was as 'great' a kick and player as you make him out to be, howcome he hasn't gotten a game this year ?

The reality is, Hartlett is exactly like Brett Johnson and Digby Morrell, great VFL players, but woeful at AFL standard.

And I have a life, and I can't be arsed going down to watch the reserves/Bullants every week, but there is a massive difference playing a team like Werribee at Chrinside Park, then it is playing an decent side up at the MCG or Telstra Dome ...

Robert Walls, Premiership captain and much respected Media commentator and analysist said on 3AW Hartlett is simply not up to it, and that is spot on, and whose opinions should I respect more ???
An internet forum member who posts abusive and disrespectful comments in a rebuttal, or an premiership player and coach in Wallsy ??

Then he should have been delisted. But he hasn't and an opportunity presents itself. Don't die wondering.

At the very least, Carlton needs to build his stocks as a tradable player - who knows, we might find out that with an extended run that he can cut it!!

I'm not writing off the season - but I also think its unrealistic that we will be a premiership threat. Surely we now have to look at blokes like Hartlett, Bentick, Edwards, Anderson etc and find a way to make them into players or allow us to get something for them at the trade table. I look at the list and see a lot of blokes that will NOT take the Blues to a flag!!

Again, how much of Hartlett has Walls seen? I would guess very little. Hell, all it'd require is one half decent game at AFL level and the man would call him the second coming. Don't think there's anyone in the media whose opinion changes more from week to week.

Hmmm. Let's think about it.

Waite was recruited as a tall forward and took about 6 years to hit his straps as a match-influencing backman.

Hartlett was recruited as a tall forward and after about 4 or 5 years has settled into a match-influencing, INJURY-FREE run in the backline in the Bullants.

Seems kind of obvious.

The only question will be whether the MC have Carlos ahead of him in the pecking order.
