It was always going to be proven the selection process was wrong when swan was named as a forward and diak was named as a midfielder in the 40......proves it is a bullshit process.

Lecras should have been named as a forward pocket and yet again the victorian bias was on show again here.

Most forward pockets are just midfielders that haven't yet proven themselves good enough for a permanent midfield role, so in the end guys like Didak, Chapman and Davis get the nod as they do both.

Milne would be the only specialist forward pocket I can think of in the competition. Le Cras will be a midfielder/forward like Didak, Porplyzia will probably grow into a Chapman like role etc etc.

the way the modern game is, does anyone really think people line up like they do on the magnet board in U/15's in the AFL any more?

Most teams have at least 8-10 players in their midfield rotations, and this AA team is reflective of that.

Regardless of personal dislikes, I think it's pretty obvious that if you're in a bottom eight side you're not getting picked.

I don't agree with it, but there it is.

Ranked 3rd in 1st Possesions per game. (Only Judd and M.Boyd ahead of him)

To the poster who implied Judd was chosen because he is Robert Walls' "love child", the above stats give a bit of a clue why he got chosen, once again. These stats, collectively, are a fairly good measure of how a midfielder has performed. No surprise to see other AA selections, Hayes, Selwood, Ablett & Boyd among the leaders, as well as previous AA representatives Black & Kirk.

Nah the AA selection has been very subjective for years.

Remember when M.D. Lloyd was named AA Full Forward, but Scott Cummings had won the Coleman !!!.

I remember Plugger made the "non politically correct" comment about the above selection, that the selectors "didn't have a clue and you'd get more sense out of his dogs".

I question whether there's a more complete midfielder in the game and the only thing lacking from his lacking is accuracy in front of the big sticks.

I cant believe there is so much whinging about the selected side.Some of you have to realise that just because selectors opinions dont agree with yours doesnt mean they are wrong.Everyone named in the AA side tonight were worthy of selection but there could have been another 10 others that deserved to get in as well but didnt simply because 40 doesnt go into 22.Cant believe people are getting so hung up over it really
