Coach Has Ken Hinkley Been Found Out?

I'm sure others have already said this, but how f*#king absurd is it that Hinkley has copped a $20,000 fine over this? Like sure, taunting an opposition player immediately after a narrow win is a bit of a d!ck move (cheap, petty etc), but who cares?! He made a plane motion and told Ginnivan he won't be flying anywhere. Big deal.

Just weird that the AFL now think it's its job to regulate that type of conduct.

thanks for your compelling response.

Listening to and watching the media today, almost everyone agreed that the AFL over reacted with fining Kenny. Ridiculous decision.

Yet nothing for Sicily, a club captain, an alleged "leader", visibly agitated and swearing at an official of another club. Even his own team mates knew he was being a turnip because they had to hold him back!

You're assuming that that's all it was and getting pissy about it.

Mitchell referred to it as aggressive language, which is a polite way of saying abusive. If he was abusive to Ginni, then a 20k fine doesn't seem all that unreasonable now does it?

I wonder if Ken is going to double down, and use the AFL fine as his teams motivation (They haven’t just fined me, they fine US! Let’s show em) to beat Sydney.
He then turns to the camera at full time, and does the phone hand signal, and does this….

Could be the first coach to be suspended for a Grand Final!

Yawn

Makes me question if something else was said. As you said, I’m not sure how the league justifies a $20k fine for being a bad winner.

Mitchell literally said as much, but people would rather label him and Sicily as whingers then entertain that maybe, just maybe, Hinkley overstepped the mark.

Then why not come out and say what it was?

You clearly weren't.

I was but on the total opposite side.

Are you saying it didn’t happen when ken was showing ‘sportsmanship in honouring Bruest.

Raw footage shows in order

Ken motioning to his players to go over for ‘guard of honour’
Ken making comment direct to a hawthorn player
Sicily admonishing him. Presumably for inappropriate action ——-for which Ken later apologises?

How hard is it to just not?

Don’t do the fake sportsmanship if you are going to carry on. Jus t get off the ground and continue your ‘the worlds out to get us’ fantasy

And for all the false equivalence, hawthorn this season acknowledged Dustin Martin in an appropriate manner

Whenever there is a fine/suspension for something that is said that is over the line they never actually announce what is said.

They did with Clarkson.

Hang on. Are you suggesting Hinkley used a naughty word?

I guess there may have been something else said, but the AFL statement indicates that the issue is merely that Hinkley engaged an opposition player ("sets a bad example for lower levels of football", "potential to escalate" etc etc).

This is where we're at now: moderately d!ckish behaviour from a coach is worthy of a significant fine.

Worth the 20k for the Sicily toddler bawl, and the Mitchell shrill and indulgent presser.

Personally I don't think Hinkley needed or should've have gone there. But I don't think Ginni should've posted what he did in a public domain.

In the end Hawthorn say they didn't have a problem with Ginnivans post so I'm not sure why they are so upset when the opposition let him know about it after the fact.

Let’s say it happened in pendles 300 game chair off. Would the media be different? I recall he was disrespected at one point winning a n Anzac medal or something? You all let us know about that.

It was the where rather than the what

My thoughts as well. The exchange went on far longer than just “ya not floyin Jack”

To my very basic lip reading skills, it looked like he used the term 'f*ckhead' when talking to Jack.

Seems pretty tame to me.
